French tourists burglarized at Grove Wendy's

Sadly, a group of French tourists were burglarized at the Wendy's on US1.

Eighteen teens and two adults parked their van at Wendy's and went inside to eat. That's when it happened. Money, passports, luggage, all was stolen.

Of course Miami police showed up after the crime wisely urging the public to help. Why are we paying some of these Cops over $100,000 when one security guard can do the same job for a third of the cost.

You do realize that cops can't be everywhere at once, right?

Agreed cops cannot be everywhere at once, that is the whole point, security guards are cheaper, as smart as police officer if not smarter, carry far less deadly weapons, far more peaceful when it comes to conflict resolution and do not complain that they are not getting pay increases from their already over the top salaries, further if the establishment and its surroundings businesses had one security guard in place then there would have possibly been an eye in place to watch the crime and call the police to respond at high speeds from the local Dunkin Donuts. The main question is are our taxes being put to good use or are we better off doing the job ourselves.

You need a security guard to eat a hamburger in the grove another reason not to visit Or Live there. Glad I Left and do not miss that place at all. That Wendys is a crime scene multiple murders, rapes robberies and not to mention bad service. The GROVE SUXS it was cool 20 + years ago before the Kendall yups and drug money realtors took it over so sad !!

Let us know where this Shangrila is where you left to. Coconut Grove is a place where there are many many people left with lots of hope, and faith in humanity. They are not afraid to stand up and say to anyone or any authority that there is a better way, in order to do things better and live better together. So if you left because you lost hope and faith, then bon voyage, send post cards and come back for a visit once in a while.

That particular Wendy's is a Hotbed for Drug Dealing. This has been mentioned several times at the local Crimewatch meetings, but I rarely ever see any Police at the location.

Every city in the world has a "bad neighborhood". This side of CG is known to every local as a "bad neighborhood" and is avoided at all costs. The couple of times I've ever gone to that Wendy's is to hit up the drive thru during broad daylight and the drive thru clerks always slam the window and lock it milliseconds after throwing your food in your car. This was a case of another tourist(s) wandering into the wrong neighborhood is all. A minimum wage security guard will do nothing to stop crime in that area. Bulldozers? Maybe.

Some of these comments are totally immature. Are you advocating that the city of miami place a cop at Wendy's 24/7 ?? And at Milams and Home Depot and McDonalds and Burger King and every business in the Grove?
While you are at it, why not every single home as well.
Crime happens everywhere. Cops can't be everywhere.
I feel sorry for the tourists - but what can you do?
Perhaps it begins with never leaving your money and for sure never your passport, anywhere but in your purse or pocket.

The Police in Miami generally seem to be Inept. Is it because of Budget Cuts?
