Shakespeare Miami and The Barnacle State Historic State Park are celebrating William Shakespeare's birthday on Saturday, April 27, rain or shine, from noon to 7:00 pm.
There will be activities all day from a Sonnet Walk to ongoing scenes from Shakespeare and poetry recitations. From 5 to 7 pm, there will be a full staged reading of Shakespeare's "The Tempest."
Admission is free (with park admission $2 for ages 6 and up. Kids free.)
Here is the schedule for Saturday's Shakespeare's Birthday Party at The Barnacle:
12:00 – 1:30 - Sonnet Walk
12:00 – 2:00 - Shakespeare PhotoBooth/ Dress up area
12:00 – 2:30 - Children’s Activities: Face Painting, Coloring, Story Time
12:00 – 3:00 - Ongoing: Scenes from Shakespeare and Poetry Recitations
12:30 – 1:30 - Stage Combat Demonstrations and Children’s Classes
1:00 – 2:00 - Rat Pucking & Jousting
12:00 – 2:30 - Fairy Garden – Visit the Fairies in their Garden
2:00 – 2:30 - Costume Parade and Costume Contest
2:30 – 3:00 - Tea with Mr. Shakespeare: Tea, Apple “Tea” and Birthday Cake
2:45 – 3:00 - Costume Contest Winners announced
5:00 – 7:00 - Staged reading of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”
Community members will participate in the National Poetry Month celebration by reading poems by or inspired by Shakespeare.
