Join Ukulele Night at Books and Books

Thanks to Grovite Glenn Terry, Books and Books will be having their first Ukulele Night on Thursday April 4.

Everyone who plays the "uke" is invited, so are all uke lovers who want to listen and or learn to play. According to Glenn, Uke clubs are popping up all over the country.

For an hour, from 8 to 9 pm, the group will play and sing songs. If you don't have a ukulele, they will have a few extras you can borrow, or just stop by and sing along.

Two professional musicians will be joining the group for the evening -- Bobby Ingram and Sam Sims.   Bobby is a South Florida musical legend. His intimate show at Coconut Grove's Barnacle State Park last month drew over 500 people. Two weeks ago he played at a benefit concert with David Crosby in San Francisco.

As many of you know, Sam fronts Miami's "Sam Sims Band."  The singer/songwriter is amazing on the uke (and, the guitar, dobro and harmonica). His latest album, "Moments," has Sam's usual island flavors mixed with the here and now.

Glenn Terry does not really play the ukulele but he enjoys trying, so it really should be a fun evening.

Ukulele Night is at 8 pm at Books and Books in Coral Gables at 265 Aragon Avenue.
