Bringing the Antique Market back for a day or so

A lot of us are missing the Mayfair Antique Market. They left a month ago because of the changes at Mayfair. I've visited my friends from the market on Lincoln Road on various Sundays when they have the Antique Market there and I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool to have the Antique Market here out of the street somewhere once or twice a year? Maybe more often?

We have all the arts festivals and Mad Hatter, why not the Antique Market? It's one of those things that runs itself. What I mean by that is it's self contained. The Market people do their own thing, so it wouldn't involve the BID or Merchants Group or Chamber, it would just come in, set up, they would do their thing and leave, bringing fun and people to the Grove.

Yeah...the Grove is "sanitized" from the very things that made a place you want to go to. Its like Chef Boyardee - great for a quick meal but would you serve to your dinner guests? Bring back the street vendors!

I remember a time when the Village was loaded with artisans of all sorts. Its the commissioner's of the past and present who sterilized the Grove so badly that it has become boring!! The ridiculous red tape of permits and such has made it impossible for 'Real Live Street Entertainment'. Wynwood which is basically new in the up & coming has surpassed the Grove quickly in a few years time. Its about time we got back the flavor we once had and I do not refer to the young "club" scenes, but a more mature jazzy speak easy, artsy scene.
