Grove featured in new tv series

While there is so much talk about Burn Notice being the Grove's own tv show, there is new show on the air which features our waterfront. It's called "Shipwreck Men." It started a couple weeks ago on the Discover Channel.

"Shipwreck Men," which was going to originally be called "Salvage Wars," is about the guys who patrol the waterfront, putting out fires, salvaging sinking boats and arguing, lots of arguing.

The show takes place here at the Grove waterfront, also in Key West and goes up to North Dade. In the Grove, our friends from Atlantis Marine Towing, the Korpelas, are featured. As the show progresses, you'll see more and more "home life," of the live aboards and their employees and friends. I did a story on Erika Korpela last January, when I ran this "Good Samaritans" story.

The show was filmed all during the spring and summer and the premier date was put off and put off and finally got their go ahead this month.

"Shipwreck Men" can be seen on Mondays at 9 pm on Discovery and I'm sure marathons and various reruns during the week are going to happen, which is the case with these cable shows, so I'm sure you'll get a chance to see and enjoy it.
