Give us some free parking already!
Hollywood, FL is considering offering free downtown street parking to accommodate visitors who otherwise would not visit. It helps the downtown restaurants, bars and shops according to this Herald article.
It is a dream of so many to have this in Coconut Grove. I was watching tv and can't remember what show it was, but a lady who was hit with parking tickets were flabbergasted that she got parking tickets since she said she came from Houston where she had never paid for parking before.
If Houston, Texas can do it (and Sarasota, Venice and other areas of Florida), it's a shame that Coconut Grove can't do it. I know so much of the money goes to the BID, but if the BID wants to help biz in the Grove, perhaps giving up the parking money on one or two days a week (how about weekends), it might be worth it for all businesses.
