Maybe we should enclose the park in a glass case

An interesting issue came up not too long ago, that Peacock Park is being over used for events. The discussion was that there are too many events in the Park and this ruins the grass.

Is this the case? Should the park only be used for sports groups and nothing more? But even they get a bad rap for screwing up the precious grass. It was said that neighbors have been complaining. Complaining about the grass being tread on or complaining about the noise?

I suspect it was the noise more than the torn up grass, since the grass is always made new again after an event. If you look at the grass now, it is perfect after a weekend of heavy wear and tear due to the Grovetoberfest event, where thousands of people trampled it.

But should a park be left alone and not be used for events?

People were complaining in Merrie Christmas Park that time about the children playing soccer on the lawn. I find it so hard to believe that people seriously want to look, but not touch the parks.

Someone told me that Peacock Park is falling on hard times and it is allowed to get this way so that eventually it can be turned commercial and the glass house can become a restaurant and the whole thing will be renovated and handed over to developers. But we have the Waterfront Master Plan to keep in mind. Doesn't the park need to adhere to those plans?

And I don't see the park falling on hard times. It looks fine to me.
