Live Paper Dolls put on a fashion show
Katrina Boler was the winner last night in the "Be Your Own Paper Doll" Fashion Show put on the by Coconut Grove's Paper Bag Heads, who took paper couture to the next level. The rain almost put a damper on the show, but it was moved form the outdoor Mayfair Promenade to the covered Mayfair Atrium, next door, and the show went on as scheduled.
All sorts of styles were presented and you could see all the hours of work that went into each piece. We had our own little Project Runway right here for Gallery Walk. At left is Sheri Friedman, with her creation, which even included the fascinator on her head and the cool detailed shoes. Sheri came in second place. Uta, at right, had lots of detail in her brown paper dress.
Yvonne Rosemeier, left, walks the runway, with Cecilia Reyes, in a pastel flower creation.
Uta, Lynda Wellens, Jane Tiney and Mary Caffey (as Stary Night, my favorite painting).
Theresa Callouri, left, came in third place with her Native American fashion and at right, is Sheri Friedman leaving the show. She walked around the Grove for awhile in her paper dress, showing it off to the Gallery Walk visitors around the village.
At left, Joe Grant, is flanked by his models Yvonne Rosemeier and Giana Levya, Joe actually created their dresses. I like Giana's Wilma Flintstone look. At right is Alisha Camon, who wore a declaration of fashion dress. The details that went into every single creation was amazing. They all put so much work into what they wore.
The live music that accompanied the show was performed by, from left, Steve Stacey, Levi Hammock and Bryan Aguilar, who just played what they felt at the moment as the girls came out onto the runway. It was really a fun event. Another great production put on by Trina Collins. The Gallery Walks are now adding this performance art to the night, which is really making it something special.
