Violins and Visions to showcase live art and music
The Promenade at the Mayfair will come alive with live art and music -- combined as one.
Trina Collins will lead several local artists in a sort of paint off called "Violins and Visions." Easels and camera tripods will be set up and artists and photographers will create to live music provided by the Miami Conservatory of Music. A "medley of sights, sounds and emotions" will take over the night.
The plan is to have Trina next to a large canvas attached to the building. The musician starts to play. Trinapicks up her brushes and starts painting to the music. The musician then starts following as Trina paints, influencing her work.
The exchange goes back and forth, together and separate as the two master artists lead the audience on an elicit and provocative performance. This whole thing will take about 10 minutes.
The second part will consist of 10-12 artists set up with their easels facing the audience. The musician begins to play. The artists reacting to the music begin to paint. (The musician or musicians are free to improvise or play a set piece. At the end of the section there will be 10-12 different interpretations of the musical concert. This should be about 15 minutes.
World class violinist Orlando Forte will play selections ranging from Bach to Tupac in an improvisational setting while artists are inspired to paint, draw and photograph whatever the music tells them to. This is something special, not to be missed.
Orlando began his musical education in Havana, Cuba, then received a scholarship to the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, and later completed a Master of Fine Arts at the Conservatory of Odessa, Ukraine. He has toured, taught and conducted all over the world. He was Music Director, Concertmaster, and Conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of Havana, and toured with the orchestra through Spain, France, the Ukraine, Russia, and Mexico, where he also was Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at Universidad Autonoma de Zacatecas, Mexico.
He is highly in demand as a recording artist here in South Florida, and his credits include albums by Michael Jackson, Julio Iglesias, Placido Domingo, and hundreds of others. He is currently the concertmaster of the Florida Chamber Orchestra. This year he joined the artistic staff of Miami String Project as Co-Music Director Conductor, and Arranger.
The Gallery Walk starts at 7 pm and ends at 10 pm. This special performance will be from 7:30 to 8:00 pm.
