It's turning into a weekly lunchtime networker

The Dim Ssam a Gogo food truck was the gourmet food truck du jour this afternoon in Coconut Grove. The truck, owned by Sakaya Kitchen, parked on Florida Avenue and the crowds came out, just like they did with the Ms. Cheezious truck in previous weeks.

The food was excellent, we had a little of everything, with bottled cream soda. We had orange ribs and a crispy duck sandwich and even fried brussel sprouts! There's something for everyone, our vegetarian friend was quite happy when she saw the menu. As they were setting up, a Miami police car stopped, I asked the officer if I could help him with anything, thinking that he would complain about the truck, his reply was, "Do they have duck sandwiches? I'd like to order one." They did and he did.

It's becoming a weekly social event, sort of a networker. The office workers come out and so do most of the businesses. They run over from the beauty shops and art galleries and just about everywhere around the village.

I got quite a bit of business done while I was there. There were actually people I needed to call and I was able to get things done there since they showed up in person. I set up two PR agencies to bid on the Bed Race account, I even signed up a group to race a bed! I also alerted a few of the offices to our Mad Men Monday Happy Hour, which many did not know about. That starts in the summer, but I was just priming the pump with all those ad agency types.

I also showed many the new Grapevine app on the iPhone, so I really did get a lot done while enjoying lunch from the truck. And I made a lunch date or two for next week.

The guys in the truck told me that today was their best lunch day ever. Now keep in mind these trucks go all over, they are in Bayside downtown and they go to very populated areas out west, they also go to casinos and "food court" set ups. But today, in Coconut Grove, Dim Ssam had their best lunch crowd. This says something for "give the people what they want and they'll show up."

This is why we need to set up food courts in the Grove once a month or so -- it will bring the people out.
