Colombian festival is on

So the Colombian festival is back on, the one we told you about the other day. The BID (Business Improvement District) turned down the parade route, which was to be through the center of town, but now it looks like the parade will take place on South Bayshore Drive. It will start at City Hall at Pan American Drive and end at Peacock Park, taking up only one side of South Bayshore Drive, to allow for traffic flow.

The event is Saturday, March 12 from noon to 11 pm. After the parade, there is a concert in Peacock Park with legendary Salsa group Fruko y sus Tesos, Alina Vargas (daughter of merengue idol Wilfrido Vargas) and the Merengue Ensemble of Berklee College of Music (the biggest contemporary music college in the world).

Tickets for the concert are $20 and will be sold at the gate.

While this sound like a great event, many Grovites, especially those who live in the area are not happy that the BID's decision was overturned by the City. More to come.
