Chair Affair winners announced today
The judging was today for GroveHouse's Chair Affair, their March project. All the chairs came in today and they were quite a motley bunch. Everthing was used from magic maker to actual leaves and branches from nature.
First place was actually this chair to the right, a jungle-type thing that looks as if it is going to get up and just start walking. Karen Deilke and Barbara Tejada created it. Next to it is second place, a nautical, pirate-type thing, created by Humberto Mijares.
Here is some of the detail in Huberto's chair.
Third place was won by Lee Pivnik, the student artist, who we did a feature on earlier in the week. The chair called, "Sharpie's Revenge," was a three-month project of Lee's.
There are a lot more chairs, all of them quite creative. Other prizes included Mayfair's Choice, which went to Jane Tinney and Lunatic Fringe, which went to Diane Karmiol. The GroveHouse is open daily, except Monday. They are located at the Mayfair Promenade, next to The Improv. Stop by to see all these creations or join them next Saturday, March 5, for the premier of the exibit during Gallery Walk Night. They'll have refreshments and the artists will be there to show off their creations.
