Santas descend on Coconut Grove for the night
At first we thought we had the wrong night, but little by little, the Santas started showing up at Barracuda Bar for SantaCon. JD, shown above, was first, he started out at The Tavern, then made he way around the block.
SantaCon is a worldwide event, where folks dress up like Santa and just party all night, they go from bar to bar and hang out around town. It's a bar crawl sort of thing, but many Santas stop and eat at local restuarants and even Christmas shop.
Soon, Fuller Street was crawling (no pun intended) with Mr. and Mrs. Clauses.
There was drinking and beer pong and lots of energy. After a bit they started making their way around the Grove.
Many came in Christmas-themed colors, but not as an actual Santa Claus.
Many just came as-is to hang out and enjoy the holiday season. It's a nice tradition and the kids who saw the Santas along the way were thrilled. Many parents had read about it here in the Grapevine and they brought their kids out to take a little peek at all the Santas.
There was caroling in the North Grove last night, where neighbors get together and go door to door and there were a bunch of "sailors" around town in large groups -- they were models promoting Le Male Cologne FOR MEN by Jean Paul Gaultier. One more week till Christmas . . . the Grove is getting busy.
