Mercy Hospital would like to expand

There is a public hearing on Wednesday, November 17, regarding Mercy Hospital. There's a resolution to approve or deny a major use permit for the hospital. The hearing is at 7 pm, at City Hall (3500 Pan American Drive).

The request is for substantial modification and for a major use permit to build an addition of approximately 647,160 square feet of floor area to the existing hospital building of 673,176 square feet, while demolishing approximately 151,827 square feet for a total of 1,168,509 square feet.

Also, they would like to expand an existing parking garage of approx. 292,060 square fee to 403,435 square feet, which will provide 275 additional parking spaces.

Then they would like to build a new parking garage of approx 318,500 square feet, which would provide parking for about 920 vehicles on five levels. Their final request is to build a new three-story building of approx 11,250 square feet for an energy plant to serve the new hospital towers.

All interested real estate owners in the community are invited to participate. For more information on this petition and supporting papers contact the Hearing Board at: 444 SW 2nd Avenue, 7th Floor, Miami, Florida 33130. Telephone: 305-416-2030. File ID 10-01233mm
