Delicious French breakfast on a cold Miami morning
Today is the perfect day to pop over to Le Cafe Pop (3425 Main Highway) for some hot chocolate and croissants. We had that for breakfast this morning, as we sat out at the sidewalk cafe in the chilly weather, but we may go back later today for a midday pick me up.
We also had French toast, made with real French bread. It almost looks like plantains, but that's just the shape of the French bread. We asked Gil Poirot, the owner, to bring us what he thought we would like and that's what we got. The croissants just fall apart, they are so flaky.
Gil, left, with Julien Blin, of the French American Chamber of Commerce, reminded us that the French Film Festival is in town and along with that, it's French Spice Miami month. From now until November 30, many French restaurants, including Le Cafe Pop, are offering special deals on lunch and dinner.
There's the Bistro: $15 for the lunch and $25 for the dinner, including one glass of wine or Champagne or the Gourmet: $22 for the lunch and $35 for the dinner, including one glass of wine or Champagne. It's a great opportunity to experience Le Cafe Pop if you have not stopped by yet. Try their mussels, one of their specialties. Their full daily menu is here. For the special French Spice Menu, stop by and see what's cooking that day.
