Neighbors concerned with developer's plans

The Grand Avenue News (GAN) says that residents in the Village West are concerned with a developer's plans to have zoning changed on seven West Grove properties from single family residential to restricted commercial. Six properties are on Thomas Avenue and one is on Florida Avenue.

It is believed that Pointe Group Advisors are back in on the plans, but Pointe Group is the same company that blighted the neighborhood by demolishing so many buildings and then disappearing. Now they want back.

West Grove residents want to know what is happening and what the plans are for their neighborhood. Coconut Grove Village West Homeowners & Tenants Association president Pierre Sands calls the area left by Pointe Group a "hole in the community."

According to GAN "Over the summer, the developer gained unanimous approval from Miami commissioners to go ahead with the first phase of the “Grove Village on Grand,” a $300 million, six-block development that would bring condominiums, offices and shops with underground parking to the West Grove."
