The Great Grove Bed Race thrills thousands
Another successful Great Grove Bed Race came and went, the weather cooperated and thousands turned out today to see the Grove at it's craziest. The UM track team (above) won first place for men's division for The Grove Spot. You may remember they ran and won for Sandbar last year, but they flew the coop for The Grove Spot this year.
Luckily, the Sandbar had the women's track team this year, who won first place in women's division. Al Borerro proudly announced the winners at the end of the race.
Our own Grove police, who raced as Grove Five-0 came in first in the corporate division.
The UM Sleep Program won first place in the co-ed division.
The Mosaic Church won two prizes -- "Best Engineering" and "Fan Favorite," which is where the fans had all day to text in their votes, sort of like American Idol.
FastSigns, who provided all signage for the race wasn't as fast as their name, but they did win for "Best Artistry."
Betty Bangs was a crowd favorite as you might have guessed and won for "Best Theme."
MetroPCS won for "Best Originality," with their actual race car bed. Mr. PCS, all in purple, was a crowd favorite and danced his way around the track most of the day.
And last, but not least, Sexy Secrets, won "Best Overall."
We'll have more photos tomorrow.
