A sign of the times; lets engage the tourists

Now that more and more buses are coming into town with lots of tourists, a couple of us came up with an idea to maybe help the tourists get around town. We had it put on tomorrow's agenda for the Merchants Meeting, which is at 9 am at the Glass House in Peacock Park.

It's a sign to be placed at the area where the tourists exit the buses. To avoid city and legal issues, we would have it placed on private property, probably at the entrance of Palm Produce, which is right in front of the bus stop.

The Gray Line buses as well as Miami Tour Company and Miami Nice and even the City buses stop right there and tourists get off daily and start scratching their heads. While Luis and the crew from Greyline do an excellent job, this will help when they are too busy or not around.

The sign, sort of a chalkboard style like The Bookstore uses, shown here, will list daily events, specials and goings on in the Grove. Weekly and monthly events can be added, too. It can easily be changed daily since it's a chalkboard.

Monday's could read:
Mad Men Monday - 5:30 to 7:30 at the Mayfair Lobby Bar

Half Priced Tacos at The Sandbar Grill -- Try the famous fish tacos!
Stop by the Gallery Walk This Saturday Night 10 Galleries with food, drinks and lots of art!

Or we could announce the Mad Hatter coming in November or even the Bed Race like: "Come back September 5 for our famous Great Grove Bed Race. Today's $5 movie at The Paragon Grove 13 theater is 'Micky Mouse' at 1 pm and while in town today, stop by The Bookstore and meet Bethenny Frankel signing her new Skinny Girl book . . ." you know, things like that to get the tourists and visitors engaged.
