Another waste of taxpayer dollars

trees2
Remember those fallen trees on Grand Avenue, caused by the nasty weather in July? Well the county supposedly was in charge of fixing that (not the City).

The County's way of handling it was to let them die and replant the same type trees, when it would have taken two guys a couple of days to just straighten up the fallen trees in July.

The crazy part about this is that this type tree has a root system that will not go deep and grab the soil, so the next heavy wind will just knock them down again. Since the county was so intent on replanting, why not replant a tree that will survive the next storm?

Your tax dollars at work -- they are replanting today. We thought the county was broke.

Another thing, would it kill the salon on the corner to plant a flower or two and brighten up that dull spot? A little white paint on the walls wouldn't hurt either. Maybe another Greening up the Grove project is needed. Remember that, exactly three years ago in August 2007?
