More tax credits for filming being considered
Harry Emilio Gottlieb, "Film Ambassador" of Miami,whose job is running the City's Film and Arts office, said that the state is considering upping the film tax credits for movies and tv from $11 million a year, to $75 million for next year.
Right now, "Burn Notice" gets about half of the current $11 million, and by upping the amount of money for tax credits, this will encourage more production in the area. And there's good news for for Burn Notice fans (and Grovites). The show has been renewed for two more years. Currently they are filming their fourth season, so there will now be a minimum of six seasons.
As the years go on, the tax credits may increase each year.
While the money goes to the whole state, most filming does take place in Miami and many productions love the Expo Center, which has become quite a great movie/tv studio.
A new tv show called "Glades," will start filming in Broward County, they considered the Grove and the Expo Center for interior shooting, but they wanted a more small town feel (than the Grove?) and they decided on Pembroke Park. They will get some of the new tax credits.
