DERM is not amused with the helicopter service

Lisa Spadafina, Manager of the Coastal Resources Section of DERM (Department of Environmental Resources Management) has sent a formal cease and desist letter to Luis Folgueira, president of Professional Helicopter Services, the service out in the bay, right off the Grove shoreline.

Regarding the floating helicopter pad operating on the tidal waters, Ms. Spadafina, after meeting with the helicopter company, has decided that the floating helicopter operation is in violation of Section 24-48.23 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, which states, "It shall be unlawful for any person to construct, place, maintain permit, let, allow suffer or cause the construction, placement, maintenance or existence of any floating structure in, on, or upon any tidal waters of Miami-Dade County."

They were first asked to remove the helicopter pad on December 23, 2001 and then again by DERM on February 17, 2010.
