A unique spin to a typical science class
Shake-A-Leg Miami recently hosted a group outing for Drug Free Youth In Town (DFYIT) where over 50 students took part in a hands-on environmental education project both inside and outside of the Academy classrooms. The youth spent the day learning about plankton, making their own plankton slides using water from Biscayne Bay, and identifying plankton species using microscopes. A second science experiment involved the students’ creation of their own water filters from recycled and household materials.
