It was an Art Stroll to remember
Last night, there was a magic in the Grove that has been missing for a long time. From one end of town to the other there was music and laughter and people, lots of people. It could be that large buses were bringing in Super Bowl fans to spend the day in Coconut Grove, but there were many locals out, too for the Art Stroll.
The art stroll is basically two things, the Mayfair Promenade has one large event and then the galleries around town show off their best on the First Saturday of each month. I'll go into each event separately in future posts. Let's start with the GroveHouse. It was their 5th Anniverary celebration last night and they really had a blow out, as you can see above, people were pouring out of the gallery, it was so crowded.
Artist Audrey Scott brought out her Mad Hatter outfit, which was perfect for the night since it was a mad, mad night. With Audrey from left are Maribel Galindo, Ileane Holman, Monique Lassooij and Joe Gatti.
Winners of the Love contest, where artists created something on what love means to them are from left: Karen Deilke, 3rd place; Vivien Romoff, 2nd place and Pauline Goldsmith, 1st place.
Paul Saint Laurent is the featured artist of the month, his 3-D wood art is a must-see, he is here with fellow artist Mary Ponchio.
We won a couple of items in the Chinese auction, "ICU" by Audrey Scott and "Lighthouse" by Elizabeth Chacon. Speaking of Chacon, come back later today and tomorrow for more on last night's Art Stroll night including the Chacon Gallery, the Circus Circus gallery night and more.
Oh, and these guys at the piano, just showed up at the Antiques Market next door to the GroveHouse and started playing Niki's piano. It was incredible, they were invited back for Friday's Mayfair Happy Hour on the Promenade. The whole night was impromtu and fun. Even Spider-man showed up on the Promenade with his rickshaw and giddy passengers, who took in the whole scene with wide smiles on their faces.
