Has anyone ever seen a mounted officer make an arrest or stop an illegal activity going on?

No, so why don't you become the first, while your at it run I would love to see the horse run you down. Your a moron, the horse is a GREAT P.R tool and the officers are quite cordial and polite.
For your information they have been instumental during civil disturbances, and a hoof on your foot would get your attention quickly.

Hey Grape, could you mention the Police Liaison meeting Thurs. at the Glass House, come meet the new Commander and speak to your local cops, we are not as bad as some of your readers make us out to be.

Thanks
Officer Joe Guell (NRO)

Anon 8:24 moron, dip stick, brain dead, it's a question---get it? Question. "We all know it's a great PR tool", really, is that it, is that your observation? Great. The question was, has anyone ever seen an officer on horseback make an arrest or issue a citation for any infraction of law? What's so PR about some human riding a horse? Why are some of your folks so bitter, so hostile? You sound like some bitter fool who may have burnt some pretty ladies as witches way back when.

Officer Jose Guell, those of us who know you first hand support officer like you 100%. The sour grapes that complain are not the majority of sweet grapes, no, good grapes that fully understand we need you and more like you. If you read the Grape daily or regular you will see that the vast majority of sour Grapevine readers/commenters have crawled back under their flat rocks.

The mounted police are great. Their visibility adds to security (even though you may not see them issue a citation... maybe that's because they are so visible to those who may chose to err) and are a pleasure to see on our streets.
Thank you, Officer Guell, you are appreciated.

I actually know someone who was in their car and ran a stop sign or something like that and the cop on a horse, stopped her and ticketed her, from horseback.

To the difficult anonymous poster:

Mounted police are extremely visible and tend to intimidate those intending to perpetrate crimes, thus they act as a deterent. I believe we can agree that crime prevention is better than issuing citations and making arrests correct?

This thought occured to me driving one day - have you noticed that people drive and act more carefully when there is a cop driving along with them or visible - it's actually more effective than the hidden speed trap, which results in citations. This brough an interesting question to mind, wouldn't we be better served by more visible and less stealthy police efforts in general. The problem there is one prevents crime, the other brings in revenue from fines. Food for thought.

Officer Guell - good to know you're reading, I think such involvement is very beneficial.

Exactly.

Also, friendly "Beat" cops on foot are another great deterrent, instead of invisible ones in their numerous cars.

BTW, I'd like to see one majestic Law Enforcement Horse in our streets for every Peacock they take away from us. CI

But what I don't get is "why do they need donations?" Shouldn't this be paid out of our Tax money...Reminds me of the old bumper sticker that said "It will be a great day when schools have all the money they need and the Air Force will have to hold a Bake Sale to buy a bomber"...Well schools don't have enough money...and are the police close to holding bake sales? Maybe times are tougher than I thought.

Great our tax dollars going to some guy riding a horse through the grove, for what a PR tool, buy a mountain bike and ride, you get exercise and its also a great PR tool for the Police and the environment, as for a horse, maybe in New York it will work but not in South Florida, except for maybe a parade
