Parking discounts from the MPA
The Miami Parking Authority (MPA) is offering a 20% parking discount for City of Miami residents. You must be registered for the Pay By Phone feature to receive the discount. Call 305-373-6789 for info, or visit www.paybyphone.com, but to register, you must call the number and cannot do it on line as of yet.
And like last year, as of tomorrow, the MPA will be offering a one hour grace period parking. You can simply put a quarter in the machine, get a receipt and park for more than an hour, but you must have a receipt so that they meter reader knows when your parking time started.
This grace period will expired January 3, 2010.

Thank you for this information, Grape! I called to set up an account at the MPA. They were very friendly. Note that you need (3) things in order to sign up:
1) License plate #
2) Cell phone number
3) MC or Visa
