Found village house; lost the Strut announcer job
I was not sure if I was one of the announcers of tomorrow's King Mango Strut, I was told I could be the one at the start of the parade, but it appears as if I am not. I ran into Antoinette Baldwin today and was told that three others are doing it. Shame, I would have done a great job, but that's ok, I did want to be free to roam around during the Strut and not be confined to one spot.
Speaking of the Strut, I am not amused with the group doing the parody of the Grapevine as the Gripe Vine. They are opening up old wounds by bringing up subjects from the past year that I thought I had made peace with. Things that people forgave me for or forgot about will now be out in the open again, marching up and down the village. I think we need to move ahead, not look back and mock. It's not me or the Grapevine being mocked, it's the people, organizations and subjects that I wrote about this past year -- all coming back to haunt me and them.

the strut is always about parady, sounds like you have a bit of a thin skin.
Come on Grape, it means you have hit the big time. The entire purpose of the Strut is to mock. As if Sarah Palin would have appreciated being referred to as a pole dancer.
Grape, Grape, grape, relax! They like you, they don't. You know I play games here and we have made an arrangement; an honor code-----something of value. You reflect our community and the folks depend on you to keep us informed about what is going on in the Grove. Your place is more than secure, so, don't worry about the bastards-----okay----enjoy!
GET REAL No one has forgotten anything. Just check the archives of your blog and it's n black and white. What did I miss that you were forgiven for. Can't wait to see who is outed.
My reaction is the same as the second comment. For 8 years the Strut made fun of George W Bush & everybody laughed, but when it hits home to the Grapevine, boo hoo hoo!
Grape, if you are able to dish it out on your blog then you should be able to take it too. As much as "Gripe Vine" may be directed at some of your griping, I also think it has a lot to do with the many, many commenters that bitch and moan constantly. Suck it up, bud. Just the fact that you're being parodied is a feather in your cap.
Man up, Grape. You've started more uproars than anyone, and it goes both ways.
It's the Strut!, be flattered they're thinking about you, it could be worse.
Happy New Year!
Pat
You mean someone thinks highly of you.
Come to think if it you are all right, "looking back and mocking" is what the Strut is all about. I just didn't want to bring up subjects again where I may have hurt people. But guess it's too late for that. I should have thought of it at the time.
We're all Mangoheads hanging on the Grapevine.
We love you Tom.
Now you know how we feel when you make personal attacks - maybe you won't editorialize so much next yr. and will just report things and quit stirring up everything.
Editorializing is what a blog is by it's very definition. I am doing what I am supposed to do -- commentary -- if you would like to read dry news, try the Herald.
Blog: "A blog (a contraction of the term weblog) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary ..."
"...blogs often reflect the personality of the author."
Could also be the Grape Whine or the Great Whine
There appear to be 3 kinds of blogs. One kind is commentary and it looks like the Grapevine author, Tom has found his niche. I don't always agree, but Toms certainly isn't boring and I've no doubt at all that Tom keeps us very well informed about our Grove community so he gets my respect. Here in the Grapevine we can cut loose, communicate, congratulate and gripe with equal zest.
