Come out and for dinner

All rumors of their demise have been greatly exaggerated.

We are glad to inform you that Le P'tit Paris is alive and well and serving dinner.

Now aren't you all embarrassed about all the comments you left earlier about their service and food? I was just testing you. Get out there and have a wonderful dinner!

Grape, as much as I make a point of supporting our local businesses, you will notice that I have stayed away from commenting on this topic until now. I have eaten at Le Petit Paris a few times. Let's just say that instead of your commenters being embarassed, perhaps the comments should be taken as constructive advice and a wake up call to a place that might only have the business it does have because of its highly visible location. I will make a point of being back in the next few weeks and hope to see improvements because of the conversation your post generated.

i am not embarassed by my comment on the previous post, or plan on retracting it.

though next time, call them up or email the owner before speculating on it being closed. the responsibility is on you grape to report stuff accurately (not us the readers/commenters). None of the comments were backing up the idea of it being closed, just stating they weren't surprised (any of them) that the place had shut down. I agree with Michelle to the fact they should be looking @ these critiques for constructive criticism.

That being said. What happened to Switch?? That place opened and closed in 2 weeks. There is a sign up front saying space for lease, includes restaurant equipment. How about investigating that?

Not embarassed a whit. The food's so-so. The best French food (for the dollar and overall) is at Le Bouchon du Grove. Nice that it didn't have to close, though, I suppose.

Embarrassed? Why should people feel embarrassed about expressing their opinions? The person who should feel embarrassed is the author, who did not do the due diligence to find out that the place had never closed, then tried to make it sound like it was intentional.

with all due respect, all I did was ask, where are the red umbrellas?

No Grape you said "Another one bites the dust." So the rumors of their demise came from you.

On the best French food and bang for the French food buck, my vote definitely goes to Georges for his mussels and pommes frites. Best I've had outside of France and VERY reasonably priced.

What a tuff crowd! Grape took a photo of a outdoor cafe at 1:30 pm, four days before Christmas,in the center of our village, without a table, umbrella or customer in sight.
And then the question, where are the red umbrellas? Are they closed? Gone? I do believe it was a valid question.

Grape did NOT say " another one bites the dust"...he queried "another one bites the dust?"...quite a difference there, and it is always amazing how quickly some people jump to conclusions! Also, he was kind enough to retract and make a joke of it all. So let's cut Grape a little slack...the Grove would certainly be a much duller place without him!

Grape,

Perhaps they are too honest to turn a profit. We just returned from BICE. Three marquis outside advertising 1/2 price pizza.

The bill was full price. When questioned, it immediately was discounted. The waiter who has been there for a while knew it.

We live here in the grove. Almost every time we eat at BICE, there is a problem with the bill. The innocent visitors get ripped off.
We dont. And after tonight, we will spread the word.

3000 sailors in town this week.
I wil be sure to spread the word!

I believe that this is actually a good opportunity for the restaurant to make some adjustments based on the commentary of people who have been there, and would have probably never said anything and never come back.

This is something that in my experience with restaurants and hospitality in over 20 years, an owner of any establishment will be appreciative of.

As to people jumping to a conclusion because of the picture and the query:

People saw the picture and the questions, but the question mark itself did not register with many, 9/10s of a conclusion is perception. That is what we keep saying about Same AM. Its not whether one bar serving alcohol can save the economy of the Grove but the fact that the appearance of a place shut down, or the impression that the night life closes early becomes THE PERCEPTION.

I ate there once and vowed never to return. Aside from the food being inedible at best, the restroom down the back alley was filthy. I shuddered to think what the kitchen looked like. I could have gotten a fantastic meal at Michael's Genuine for less than my bill here. I felt ripped off. You want to know why people leave the Grove for Brickell and the Design District? 'Cause they're smart enough to know when they're getting shafted.

Mrs. Niemeyer, I've never met you, but I like you already. Mussels are pretty much how I judge most French restaurants, too. Not really fair to the rest of the non-seafaring French I suppose. :)

Never been to George's but I'll be sure to check it out. But Bouchon du Grove mussels with World Cup soccer... amazing.

No doubt about it; those who take the time to post comments; i.e., not the post, but the resulting comments; the harsh negative, hateful, mean-spirited ones, not the thoughtful ones, the misantropic ones personify why folks in general do not frequent our community----there is one hell of an ugly undercurrent that I would not want my family, friends or business associates to sense. If these folks who post ugly comments to anything and everything are actually out and about in the Grove, or so they infer they must infect our community.

NB: moules frites or mussels and chips (French fries) is a Belgian rather than French dish.

Perhaps what the residents of Coconut Grove really desire is a hearty Belgian restaurant serving moules frites and anguille à la bière (joking on the last one there).
