Village Council to discuss 5 am closings tonight
The new Village Council will be introduced and then the discussion will be about the 3 am to 5 am bar closings. This is the first reading and it will be a discussion only, everyone is encouraged to come out. The 5 am issue is quite important and has been put off for months. This is not going to happen and we hope everyone shows up to voice their concerns.

Why aren't they meeting in City Hall?
anon 12:p8 please scroll down and read all the stories that have "Village Council" in the heading going back to Nov 10 and you will see why
I recall Gulliver's Travels about a war being fought by two nations over whether an egg should be opened from the top or bottom. Is this Grove Civil War really over a 3 AM or 5 AM bar closing. Is this Grove Civil War still about one or possibly two bars and the extension of time by just two hours? Lets just grandfather in the bars that bought license for the 5 AM closing. They made the investment and deserve all the help they can recived during these tough economic times. If they are being denied their right then they can hire an attorney and sue and problem win. Any other establishment that wishes to extend their license needs to present their case to Grovite residence and get their approval through City Hall. Lets call a truce, move on and work together to solve some of the other more important issues that we all are concerned about.
Requiring a very limited number of bars in a small, but important, area to close two hours prior to the rest of the city, a party city, strikes me as not very bright and certainly bad for business.
How was the meeting? Did your new Mayor show up to apologize? Or give you some lame excuse?
Why not compromise and agree on a 4am closing?
3:50 am - because that would still leave us at a competitive disadvantage with the rest of the city. The issues is an equal playing field, not necessarily a particular time.
