It seems people were ready for changes on the Village Council with the exception of 3 people - they got their message across.

Sadly, 10 thousand people did not vote in the Grove - that is the total number for 9 candidates. I haven't checked the tally, but it looks like somewhere under 2,000 total votes from the Grove.
When it comes to bitchin time, all 10 thousand will be there screaming, though.

Thank you, Grape, for the congratulations, and congratulations to the new members of the Council. Thank you, especially, to the outgoing members, both those who ran and those who did not, for all your hard work on the Grove's behalf. We had a field of exceptional candidates, all of whom would have been wonderful representatives of our community. I hope those of you who ran and were not elected will stay involved on Village Council subcommittees. That work is ultimately more important in many way than our monthly meetings, because it is in the subcommittees that progress is made and the real work is done.

There were a total of 2,270 voters who voted in Coconut Grove. Of those voters, 60% voted in favor of Commissioner Regalado, 40% in favor of Commissioner Sanchez. I would like to thank all of you who supported and voted for Joe Sanchez in the Grove, and congratulate Commissioner Regalado and his supporters.

Commissioner Regalado has made a lot of promises about protecting our quality of life and listening to what the residents want. In the end my interest, and I believe all of our interest, is for the Grove to thrive and to be a wonderful place to live. To protect the good things about the Grove and to improve on the things that need improving. We "Grove Activists" need to be on our toes regardless of who the Mayor is and what he has promised us in his campaign. I look forward to working with Mayor Regalado and his administration, as well as our new Village Council, in the interest of the Grove.

Wow, 2,270 is a little weak from our village. With the early voting option and no wait at any time on any day, along with the easy absentee option, those who didn't vote have no excuses.

While I was pulling for some of those who did not make the cut in a very tight village counsel race (as well as a few who did), I just hope that all those elected realize and remember that they are not their to represent themselves and their own opinions or interests, but that of the community.

Good luck and try to do good... or at least no harm.

and pass a resolution or recommendation on 5am asap. It's clear that the majority of the grove wants it.

As a previous commenter points out, "10,555 people" did NOT vote in the Village Council race, simply that 10,555 "votes" were cast. Had each actual person who voted cast the full nine votes they were allowed, dividing 10,555 by 9 would suggest that something like 1173 persons voted in the VC races. Michele's observation that 2,270 person voted in the Grove suggests the combined effects that some likely did not vote for nine candidates while others may have voted only in the mayoral race. In any case, one odd result is that a candidate who received, say, 700 votes, did not get merely the 6-7% of the votes suggested by the accompanying graphic but instead received something on the order of 50% of the "available" vote.

Congratulations to the new Council members and thank you for serving our community.

Grapevine did a great job of introducing the candidates. I would love to hear from the new members to hear what their plans are.

Too bad our friendly real estate agents, Will & Javier didn't make the cut. These guys are very enthusiastic about their hometown.

Well the new candidates that didn't win can still stay involved and get on committees and attend meetings; there are usually vacancies during the very l-o-o-o-o-o-ng 4 yr term.

Grape, thanks for the quick results and the opportunity to get the candidates position out, especially after the fiasco at the last Council meeting after the City cut off the TV programming.

Thanks to everyone who has served on the Council, the candidates and their supporters, and the voters who did turn out. I feel very fortunate to have been elected to serve and will do everything I can to give the Grove an informed and louder voice in the city, that voice being the voice of the Grove residents and the Council, not my personal preferences. You will hear my opionions, loud and clear, but when the Council votes, that will be the message I send as a Councilman.
I realize the Grove has many important issues before the Council and the city right now but before I take any definitive positions, I need to do my homework and gather information from all the stakeholders to make any intelligent recommendations.
Thanks again to everyone who helped support me and voted for me.

There are too many to list, but I have to specifically thank Antoinette Baldwin as my canpaign manager for her non- stop efforts and encouragement.

I look forward to working with a great group on the Council.

Congrats to the new council members. I look at the folks who ran and believe that every running would make a positive difference. I believe in my heart of hearts that this group will work tirelessly to improve this community, fight to make the grove competitive again, and truly listen to its merchants and community. And if at all possible, turn a def ear to the political squabbling that has affected this wonderful community. My best to you all, you have a lot of work ahead of you. WV

It is a shame people didn't pay more attention to their votes and 494 votes were given to S. Quinn who dropped out of the election 2 weeks before. That tells me that people were not paying attention and did not do their homework. This really dilutes votes for other candidates who worked hard. It's a sad commentary.

That happened last time, too. Unfortunately, there's a point where the County won't take the name off the ballot. It seems like at a minimum they could put a little sign in the voting booth that tells people if someone has withdrawn.

The beauty of the democratic process is that is also allows the dumb and uninformed and easily persuaded to go out and vote for their leadership without having to study.

Totally right, 9:55
Most people of the Grove have no idea who the Village Council candidates really are, and who they really represent. If they did their homework they may find out not only that Silvia Quinn was no longer running (and who is she and what was her platform anyway?) but they would find out that Collins is the BID executive director and his boss is Sarnoff. Or that Dubin was all for the 5 am closings at a Merchant meeting, and then did a 180 degree turn around a week later because somebody from the bully camp go to her.

So the controlling bullies spread misinformation tell the uninformed what to do, and the uninformed decide for the uninterested. Serves the uninformed and uninterested right.

Looks like Pat Sessions is following the path tread by Marc Sarnoff a few years back. Nicely organized campaign getting the most votes, which will make him Chair same as Marc demanded when he got on the Village Council. He will have the opportunity to woo the Grove for a year before throwing his hat on the ring to campaign for Distirct 2 Commissioner. And here Marc was worried about Michelle all this time. Great going Sessions! You are the one to watch (and watch out for).

It is up to the voter to know who is on the ballot before they go to vote - it is another case of people being uninformed and possibly costing other people their seat.
