Circo Barcelona offers nice variety

circo-barcelona
Circo Barcelona at CocoWalk has some interesting and simple dishes that make for a nice light meal. At left is a tapas platter of Serrano ham, cheese, olives and eggplant. At right the Ibiza sandwich: cold roast beef with horseradish cream cheese a side of mixed greens and potato salad ($8.00).

Other sandwiches include the Spanish Sandwich: Serrano ham, manchego cheese and aioli sauce ($7.00); Barcelona Sandwich: Roasted chicken, arugula, tomatoes, white cheddar and olive oil ($8.00); Vanencia Sandwich: Pesto sauce, arugula, carrots, eggplant, tomatoes and fennel ($7.00); Toledo Sandwich: Roasted turkey and cucumber in a mango-chutney butter sauce ($7.00). All sandwiches are served in Ciabatta bread with potato salad and mixed greens.

Cold Tapas, all $4.00 include Cheeses, Spanish Chorizo, Serrano Ham, Olives Aioli potatoes and much more.

Hot Tapas, all $6.00 include Spanish Tortilla, Crispy Salmon, Pincho Moruno, Mediterranea Chicken and Corquetas, just to name a few.

They have soups, salads and daily specials, too.

Unfortunately, I ventured out to this new establishment on Tuesday night, and left grossly disappointed. I really was looking forward to authentic spanish tapas right here in our local neighborhood, but was left thinking the menu offered nothing more than a variety of items I could purchase myself at Sams Club or Costco for much less money. We tried cold meat and cheese platters, and added the hot tapas, Spanish Tortilla, Pincho Moruna and empanadillas, all of which were bite sized, and overpriced considering the quality and portion. We also tried the lentil soup, which I can't complain about, and a cold sandwich.

Add to that extremely slow service, and it was an overall dissapointing experience. We waited for over ten minutes with empty glasses and then another ten minutes for our second round to be brought back to us.

I would return for drinks if the service was better, but will skip another meal.

I'll be honest. Food tasted good, but the tortilla (something I use to gauge a spanish tapas place)
was absurdly small. $6 for what was 2 tiny pieces of tortilla? c'mon! at Ideas, which is an upscale spanish joint down the street almost, tortilla is the same price but 3-4x bigger.
its just potatoes and eggs, don't cheap out on something as simple as that circo barcelona.

had the same experience as Mandy, I wrote about it on Yelp and encourage you to do same, so tired of people trying to pull one over on the customer
