Center Grove Mafia censors Village Council

Lynn Westall, Senior Assistant to the City Manager, sent out a letter to the Cocoanut Grove Village Council today, stating that the Village Council cannot meet this Thursday in City Hall. Of course many believe that the Center Grove Mafia got to them, fearful of me outing them, as I stated in this post and of course fearful that the 5 am bar closing discussion would occur.

This is what is happening in Coconut Grove. The Mafia strikes again, and for those who don't like hearing it, you need to wake up. The Coconut Grove Mafia are communists. They believe in what Fidel Castro believes -- censorship, lies, bullying and thwarting their neighbors (YOU). They are cowards.

Now get this, these cowards are blaming mayor-elect Tomás Regalado for this. Regalado asked the City Manager, Pete Hernandez, to see if it was possible to include more groups to be seen and heard on cable access channel 77. It had nothing to do with City Hall or the Village Council, he just thought it would be a good idea to have access on tv for all groups.

This was spun around by the Center Grove Mafia to say that the new Mayor is against giving City Hall and tv coverage to the Village Council and as of now, the Council must vacate City Hall. The Center Grove Mafia was endorsing Regaldo all election season, now they are throwing him under the bus. This is what the Center Grove Mafia does. They have no class, they break laws, they lie and back stab. These are your neighbors. (I have proof of all this and will use it if need be).

I spoke directly with Tomás Regalado tonight, about 8 pm, and he is unaware of any changes being made at City Hall regarding the Village Council and he asked for no such changes be made.

He told me he would speak to the City Manager in the morning about changing this stupid misconception of not having the Village Council meet or be on tv at City Hall, but of course, he is being sworn in as Mayor at noon, and he does have that on his plate, so he may not get to speak with the City Manager. But either way, this is what the Center Grove Mafia is up to. They believe in censorship, they do not want the Village Council to be seen or heard, they do not want the public to be able to express their opinions. They like to censor everyone. They don't believe in freedom of speech or other people's opinions. They are dictators.

They lie and deceive, they try to rig elections, they don't care whose name they besmirch (Regalado's in this case) and they will do anything to control everything and everyone. They don't control me (although they have tried many, many times) because I won't let them.

We are living in a Communist Village folks, be aware of this.

As for the City Manager, Pete Hernandez, he never returns my phone calls or emails. He's good at censorship though (remember the time the Village Council Candidates wanted to speak on tv? He shut them down, too. An order from someone else, of course.) He should be the first one out and I could think of another elected official or two who should be next, especially the ones who give Hernandez the orders to pull the plug each time.

This is undemocratic and the Village Council needs to stop rolling over and playing dead all the time. Speak up! Show some courage! There is strength in numbers.

I want to avoid lawsuits, so I don't post their names. Also, they don't confront me because once they do, they are admitting they are part of the mafia.

Most of the Grove knows who they are and they know their leader.

This is a bit outrageous. I know Marc Sarnoff likes circles bearing his name, 3 a.m. closings, dog parks and running shorts that are a tad embarrassing.

The problem is the Center Grove Mafia, as you put it colorfully-- nobody believes they gun down anybody-- prevents public meetings from happening.

I was planning to attend Thursday night. Not to say anything, but to observe.

Please confirm whether this meeting will happen or not. I cannot believe that it won't.

Still up in the air. This letter was sent to the Village Council tonight after going back and forth all day through emails:

I apologize for the misunderstanding, however apparently there was a letter that was sent out to the Village Council stating that as of the effective date of Nov. 11th the Chamber will have to be rotated, according to the new policy. Again, I apologize I was not aware of this letter and the [Village Council] meeting will not be able to take place on November 12.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Lynn Westall (305)-250-5407.

Regards,

Michelle Piña, Ph.D.

I know who some of them are...it is easy to figure out. Anywho Grape...why don't our "strength in numbers" just start publishing our own full names on your posts and then we will know who WE are...just a thought - Times they are a changin' - thanks for the getting the info. Let's hope our new Mayor doesn't fall into old holes and traps.

You know, I used to like reading this blog because it was a nice resource for those of us who live in the Grove (including Center Grove). I read it daily. However, all this name-calling and hyperbole is really tiresome. The disrepect on this blog (espcially from the comments section) for other points of view on issues is really dismaying. All this just to serve drinks for two more hours? Is that really going improve things economically in the Grove? If so, based on what evidence? Some of these angry restaurant owners seem to think this is the answer for them. Unfortunately, this is not really the case. Places are losing business because we are in a general and wide-spread economic downturn and sadly too many of the Grove's establishments just don't offer a great product or a good excuse to spend some money. It's a pity really. So much energy on one issue. Oh well, I'm tired of it. This blog has jumped the shark as far as I'm concerned. It was good while it lasted. I won't be reading it again.

I respectfully ask that you take your head out of the sand and see that this is about rights being taken away, laws being broken and possibly the U.S. Constitution being compromised regarding freedom of speech, rights of assembly and other things. It is far beyond 5 am closings that this point.

The Village Council worries me...on one hand they are not elected officials (per city code) nor do they have any real voting power on the other....they sure do act as one.

The new mayor isn't even sworn in yet and we seem to be back to the Banana Republic days. Communists? Maybe they're also Castro's spies!

Does Sarnoff think that he's the interim mayor until Regalado is officially sworn in?

If not then why in the hell is he giving orders to the city manager? Pete Hernandez, you just made the list of people I want to see in the unemployment line. Congrats.

Grape you have to be more cautious. You can not use mafia and communism interchangeably.
One would advocate use of city hall the other only via graft.

Today is Veterans Day. Did just wake up in Pakastan because this is Taliban shit happining around the here...
Grape, this is an outrage, a crime has been committed. We must do some investigative journalism and identify the perpetrators of this unbelievable attempt to deny our God given right to freedom of speech. I have little doubt that the "man behind the curtain" isn't the wizzard of Oz but our very own Commissioner Marc Sarnoff. Make no mistake about it , he has a couple of henchmen, (or henchwomen) as it were, who are more than happy to assist him in trampling our rights.
YOU WILL NOT GET AWAY WITH IT THIS TIME I PROMISE!!
Grape there must be a paper trail that can be obtained. We really need to dig on this one. I want the whole world to see once and for all what I've already witnessed myself firsthand from these people.
It's appropriate that it's Veterans day today because it reminds me of how many brave men and women gave their lives so we have the right to free speach.
It also makes my blood boil to know that others don't take this right seriously. They think that end justifies the means and that they "know what's best" for the Grove.
Enough is enough, I've already contacted The New Times and The Herald and I'm gunna make sure the culprits that think they can censor opposing views be put on the front page!!!!!

oh and
If your going to out them just do it. How can someone sue you for speaking the truth. I do hope that all city council groups representing their neighborhoods get public access via televised reportage. I actually thought they did.

Grape, start naming names if you have a factual basis for doing so. Truth is an absolute defense to libel. Your attorney should have informed you of that at some point.

Sure he's likely to say it's not as simple as all of that, but actually it is.
