New traffic circle on Matilda and Day?

A traffic circle is being proposed for Matilda and Day.

A public hearing on the matter was part of the City Commission meeting October 8, but due to the outcry of neighbors who feel that wasing $75,000 on a circle not needed, the meeting has been postponed.

No wonder the city is broke.

Is this really necessary? Shouldn't the monies for this be used towards Marketing the Grove and helping drive traffic into the area.

Has a traffic study been done to warrant a traffic circle?

Does a city commissioner live on that corner also? I can think of 5 other intersections that need a traffic circle more than Day and Matilda.... Aviation and Bird? Or is the city making too much money from ticketing stop sign blowers...

Brian, to answer your question, no it does not. This is a goddamn waste of funding. I live right in the area of this circle and Sarnoff Circle and neither is/was necessary. Cry all you want about reckless drivers but all that crying is just a bunch of BS. There hasnt been 1 accident in the 6 years Ive lived in this area. NEWSFLASH: people drive cars and dont always drive the way you want them to, no matter what obstacles are in the way. Use caution and look both ways when crossing the street. Wear brighter colored clothing at night. Quit your bitchin and stop turning our neighborhood into a goddamn amusement park.

Waste of money, when the city doesn't have any.

No more circles. Take all the circle money and use it repave tigertail or put in some bike paths.

The traffic cicle at Matilda and Day would cost the taxpayers $75,000.

It appears the vote on the Matilda and Day traffic circle will not take place October 8th. The City will reach out to more neighbors.
Proactive neighbors should contact Comm Sarnoff with their thoughts.

I live one block from Matilda and Day and have seen no accidents since 1965, although I'm sure there have been some. Blind Man is right. Someone must be pocketing about $5,000, while a few laborers work for about a week and pour a little concrete and plant a few bushes. I would prefer to give stipends to Grove businesses that are hurting in these hard times or pay to bring the Grove together as to how to turn the glass house in Peacock Park into a community and tourist center that would benefit everyone in the Grove.

It always costs "the government" more to get work done.

Miami-Dade County will pay $3 bil for a $350 mil baseball stadium. Oh, and the County will get no revenues.

Re anon 9:11

Naaaa, no trafic study needed here. It's just business as usual in the grove. I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts if you inquire you're sure to find a member of Commissioner Sarnoff's inner "circle" directly benefitting from this new pet project, and if you dig a little deeper I'm sure you'll find Mark's fingerprints on this ridiculous request. If one were to take an arial photo of the commissioner's house I think you would be amazed at all the capital improvements that are not so coincidently within an earshot of it. Mark first does what's best for Mark. There's the dog park directly across the street that you and I payed for where his clients get to park for FREE, then there's the circle that's right in front his and a couple of his cronies homes that was funded by US. Bottom line is, if you're in Sarnoff's "circle" you get to have a circle. Does this piss anyone else off?

If you look at the arial photo your referenced anon 9:11, and the
cronie you referenced two houses West, in between you'll find a home with a $200,000.00 lien thanks to Mr. Sharnoff and one cronie who wanted to join at the hips, I mean the lot. This allegation can be found at the clerks office----next!

I agree we need no more traffic circles.

However could we get a little repaving on Tigertail so we don't hit as many pot holes.

How about painting the curbs in the downtown village so we look a little spruced up.

How about a revitalization plan to encourage retailers and restaurants to fill our empty storefronts.

Please government officials think of the people who supported you into office - we need your support now!

It's weird that the roads and sidewalks in center grove look so nice, and the rest of the grove, we have to walk into oncoming traffic, which is barely under control due to the horrible disrepair of the streets.

Yeah, let's put in another center grove circle.. that make sense.

Mark Sarnoff - enough, this borders on criminal.

The Matilda and Day proposed traffic circle vote was deferred. More study will take place.

The children from the afterschool program at Shenandoah park were happy to sacrifice their Halloween party this year so that the money for the party could go to a better cause like the construction of more traffic circles in district 4.The children understand that unlike four way stop signs traffic circles are much more memorable because they cost more and they require a life time of maintenance.
