Muvico is ready to take possession of theater

The AMC movie theater at CocoWalk is scheduled to hand over the property to Muvico in a few weeks for the transformation into one of Muvico's spectacular new theaters. Muvico does not plan to shut down completely, they will show movies as they work in sections. So the good news it that there will not be a completely dark movie theater throughout the renovations.

One thing that will be missing is the bowling alley -- my favorite part of the whole plan. They will not be including a Lucky Strikes as part of the original plans.

The Coconut Grove Block Party is being counted on as helping to bring traffic into the Grove, as well, staring September 12 and running every Saturday for six months.

They have parking now, why would you assume they wouldn't have parking?

I would guess that the merchants at Sunset Place are deliriously happy - all the families and teens will now go there for movies...

Lucky Strike was not included in the original plan. However, another bowling operator was, which later didn't work out. Muvico will be opening their Premier concept which is the first in Miami-Dade County. A new high energy, chic architectural design! Incorporation of high-tech digital production, state-of-the-art seating including large reclining seats and loveseats, accompanied with small tables for dining and drinking. Restaurant and bar also included. CocoWalk still looking at a bowling concept, just not included with Muvico.

Stay tuned....

As long as we are talking about parking, what's with the valet next to Cocowalk on Virginia St. on weekends. $10 - pretty expensive and they take up the regular parking spaces for the rest of us! More places need to do free valet like Calamari is doing; and they are always packed.

Too bad about the bowling alley. Hopefully another solution for bowling gets worked out as that would be a nice draw for the Grove.

I was only trying to stir it up alittle, I agree a good light sense of humor is really the right idea in these times.

Hey, if you call or check the web, there are no movie listing, so no more "movies" until the renovation is complete??? Anyone know? They might have stated they would have movies, but I can not find anything that show they are..... I guess we are going to the beach to see something.
