Mad for the Mad Hatter arts festival

mad
Here are just a few of the committee members for the Mad Hatter Arts Festival. From left: AnnaMaria Windisch-Hunt, David Guzikowski, Daisy Lewis, Steve Licata, Pauline Goldsmith, Sylvia Quinn and Ron Jakubisin in center.

This year, the event (November 14 and 15) should be better than last year. There are a lot of new features like possibly a tea cup or tea bag hunt (sort of like the Coconut Scavanger Hunt but the cups or tea bags). And Grove Bucks may return as prizes for this contest and other things like simply wearing hats. If you are wearing a funky hat around and a committee member sees you and likes the hat, you will be randomly handed a Grove Buck or two!

The more committee members who see you and like you, the more bucks you'll receive!

The Mayfair Antiques Market may be part of this year's event, there will be Alice's Alley for kids, a sidewalk sale among the arts and crafts and an antique car show.

This year's Mad Hatter Festival is inviting teachers to sell their work and to encourage them, their entry fee is reduced. It's $25.00 for tables and $50.00 for booths. All work must be accepted by the committee. The application form and all info is here. Anyone may apply, teachers should show proof of employment to receive the discount.

It seems a little funny that most of the committee members that started the Mad Hatter event have not been invited or sent a message that the meetings were happening.

Who are the original committee members? Just curious.

No offense to anyone here, but the Mad Hatter festival died until this group took up the mantel. Same with the Bed Race. For sour grapes to come in now is nonsense. No one stopped the previous committees from producing the events. They just died. This reminds me of the Strut, should someone have trademarked the events and the names and "owned" them or should we all have just waited until the original planners decided to get off their asses again and start up the events?

These are Grove events and Merchant events and they belong to the Grove, not to previous committee members.

PS. for anyone to put down these committees that work their asses off to get events happening is really low. How about joining the committee rather than putting it down?

Grape no reason to get your panties in an uproar, just asking for the dates and time of the meetings so all would know. BY the way the events did not die, Mad Hatter happened last year. Everyone does a great job in this community.
