Last day to apply for Village Council elections

Giana (Gigi) Leyva, right, hands in her Village Council application yesterday to Haydee Wheeler, Senior Administrator at the North/East NET office on McFarlane Road.

Today is the last day for all applications to be in (by 5 pm).
The NET office will even notarize them for you. Just another reason we need to keep the NET offices, they attend to so many details which help the Grove function.

After the application was processed, Haydee and Gigi discussed the new tree planting that the NET office has been doing in Gigi's neighborhood.

Why so you say just another reason we need to keep the NET office? Is there someone trying to close the NET? They help the Grove in so many ways, unlike other so called organizations in the Grove...hint hint.

Yeah, the BID is just providing trash cleanup on the weekend after Friday and Saturday nights. Who needs that?

It's sad that these Anonymi attack without having any idea what the BID does. It has provided funding to many, many Grove events; it organized and funded the Commodore Block parties; it has provided organizational support to Grove events; it got us the Christmas lights at Christmas and the flags on the fourth of July; it advertises the Grove outside of the Grove, so people will come here to our events and patronize our businesses; it is keeping the Grove cleaner and providing security to make it safer. A lot of these things were being neglected before the BIC was formed and became the BID. The people who work for the BID are busting their butts for us, and deserve our thanks, not abuse.

Thank you David, Richard and Manny, and the volunteers on the BID's board and subcommittees! Some of us do realize how much work you do and the time you put in to make the Grove a better place.
