great. more bad art in the grove. why does it seem as though we continue to the bastion of "fine art"?
instead of griping do something about getting getting other artists into the Grove; easy to complain when you are sitting at your computer isn't it while everyone else is working hard to get events and galleries back in the Grove...
the scope of my argument is about the quality of art, not that i am complaining. the presence of art galleries in the grove is not ipso facto productive. people will not come simply because the grove has art galleries. they will come because of the quality of those galleries and other cultural/materialistic offerings. that said, i actually think you are correct and i should correct myself. most will come to the grove because we have art galleries which sell art aesthetically comparable to thomas kinkaid as that is the prevailing aesthetic trend in most of the united states. (and i am being sincere. i do believe you are correct. just because i have issues with the quality of art available does not mean that the art available will not promote the grove.)
Frankly, both of you are correct to a fault. People will come "back" to the Grove when the Grove has something "special" to offer the people. Once the Grove was very, very special. Why? Sincerely, why was the Grove special? Gays, both male and female, drugs everywhere, light hearted bars such as the Tigertail Lounge----sort of like a free-for-all environment, the potential to score, whatever that means to the individual. Days gone by, no more. Another class has arrived.
Art was but a small portion of the equation.
