Loving the one hour grace period

mpa
Telling the meter maid that there's a one hour grace period on weekends = priceless.

Remember, until the end of August, all weekend at the street meters offer a one hour grace period. But you do have to put money in the meter, you can't just leave the car and go for an hour. And parking in the Oak Street garage is only $3.00 flat rate on weeknights after 5 pm and all day on weekends. Please be sure the attendant knows that before you enter the garage.

are these grace periods for real/legal? Where can we find out more about them?

It still stinks if you get a ticket within these grace periods b/c you still need to go to court to appeal the ticket...which usually isn't worth it and you jsut pay the fine.

put a penny in the machine, print a ticket, and you've got a free hour.

Duh - you can't put a penny in the machine and this does not apply to meters because you do not get a ticket. Only applies to parking meter stations where a ticket is printed that goes on your dashboard. It is only on Sat. and Sun and only for the month of Aug. - only 2 more weekends to go.

PS -the link grape posted has all the MPA contact numbers. Now I am sure most people will tell us the results of their adressing problems to the correct people, instead of just complaining here and not taking action.
