Keep the Brick Fries at Monty's?
Got this from the Facebook page called "Keep the Brick Fries on the Monty's Menu."
Apparently, Monty's is re-doing their menu and word on the street is they're discountinuing the 20-year traditional menu item, "Brick of Fries."
They ask, "What's better than a huge helping of cheap greasy food to wash down a few PK3s?!?! (excuse me...'Pain Remover 3s')."
Let Monty's know how you feel! Keep 'Em? Ditch 'Em? With all the issues going on around town: Miami 21, freaky MPA, Code Enforcement problems, block party redo, mayoral election, taxes, death and so on, this is a refreshing issue for the summer doldrums.

I've lived so close to Monty's for over 4 years that I hear their cheap Reggae and Calypso music from home most weekends. I hardly ever go there, though, despite the nice settings by the Water. That's mainly because they are way too expensive and their food is just as mediocre as Scotty's. They automatically hit you with a bloated tip, while the service is also usually mediocre, when not terrible. So I prefer Scotty's where the music is better, and you can mingle with the crowds real easy. For Monty's prices, might as well hit the Charterhouse.
Monty's used to be fun, but now after the face lift I call it Monty's Museum. If you go there specifically for the fries and really care to go to a website to vote on this greasy potato, you have a lot of time on your hands. I like the music, Dink (the one-man-band) is a Monty's Icon!
Everytime I go to Montys I always say we have to come here more often. Their raw bar is wonderful, and should you travel in by boat it is even better. You get off the boat with sounds of live music, I just have to say How lucky we all are to live here in Paradise. We just go for the great views, music and food in that order.
Dink is cool, nice guy, breezy tunes, but try listening to the stuff on Friday/Saturday nights, really cheap commercial Reggae and commercial Calypso. If only they had decent bands, some variety, I'd be willing to pay the excessive prices, occasionally. The clams aren't bad, but the big oysters have NO flavor, expensive too, and eat the mediocre food. You can watch games too on like 3 dozen TV's, but then they'll charge you about 8 bucks for a Heineken. That's when you never come back and head over to Scotty's or Sandbar. They must really have some out-of-touch management.
Monty's is great, that's why it's packed every single Friday for happy hour. Can't argue with what works.
Also, the tourists love it. It's not a locals place and not every place in the grove needs to be. Monty's serves its purpose perfectly and the long happy hour with half price drinks makes it as cheap as anything in town.
Not a big fan of brick fries tho, sorry, and I'm glad to hear they are reworking the menu.
