Commodore Plaza restaurant news

The Ivy people from London have purchased Christabelle's Quarter on Commodore Plaza. They are thinking about putting in a lounge/club/restaurant. The third floor will be a private access members only club and lounge

Renovations are being planned. Not sure why you would even buy Christabelle's and touch the decor, but those are the rumors. The Ivy London, The Ivy L.A. and The Ivy At The Grove are all independent from one another.

George's in the Grove has a drag queen night in the works, for October 5. Elaine Lancaster will perform and the staff will all be dressed in drag, too. More to come.

You always get a free glass of champagne when you eat at George's, but mention the Coconut Grove Grapevine for a free glass of wine.

Chicago's has a big beefed up menu being premiered next week. You name it, they have it. Details to come. Chicago's claims that not enough of you are ordering delivery. The implemented the service, now all you have to do is call in your orders: 305-774-9981.

Greenstreets has their 24 wines for $24.00 promotion continuing, Havana Grove has plans to add new items to the menu, Cita's just introduced their new menu, Mr. Moe's is planning on the college crowd starting up again, now that September is almost here and Le P'tit Paris has more theme nights in the works and half priced lunch weekdays between 11 and noon.

Many restaurant owners would like the Playhouse parking lot open for a fair fee. They claim it will help business and one cheap flat rate (maybe $5.00 for all day parking on weekends), will help. Also, the post office lot needs to be open, they are planning to open on September 12, the first night of the block parties. How about today?

That is awesome! The Ivy in London is great and the food is amazing... I'm sure they know what they're doing with their renovations. I'm excited :)

This is great that Ivy is coming. Also drag night at Georges is a fun idea. I remember all the Drag night parties back in the day in South Beach and how much fun they were for everyone. I think its a great and fun idea. Leave it to George and his great ideas to draw so many people here. I can't wait to see the waiters!!!! hahaha

I went to Chicago's deli section yesterday for lunch and had a the greatest corned beef sandwich they call Chicago Fire, I give it 10 out of 10. Delicious, fast, big portion and $7.

I stopped having Chicagos deliver when I realized they were charging me significantly more for delivery, plus the dude would take forever and the sandwich would be cold by the time he got to my office (5 blocks from chicagos)

Grape,
Can't believe you're shocked someone would change the decor at Cistobelles. All I can say is Thank God someone might actually come in with some taste and do something with that space which has to be the tackiest restaurant ever - anywhere! Kudoos for The Ivy group.

I disagree about Christabelle's being tacky the outside reign true to the New Orleans decor but the inside was south beachish which is not New Orleans style at all. Its a shame that happened to this building bc millions was spent on the design

What is significally more for delivery...They (Chicago's) charge $3 flat...whether it's for one sandwich or 10....maybe you need a few friends to help split the charge...Give them a break...

Chicago's needs to offer a discount to grove merchants and employees of surrounding stores. Some of their best business comes from all of us and we don't even get a break. Most restaurants offer up to 20% off and they keep saying soon but how hard is it to offer a little discount to people having to eat sometimes 2 or 3 meals a day at work.

Ate at a sandwich shop on the beach last week and a Corned Beef Sandwich was $14.00. By the time we paid the bill our lunch was $20.00 per person, so if you use your calculator your getting a 50% discount for locals and non locals alike. I'll stick w/Chicago's even with a $3.00 delivery charge, besides the food is AWESOME!!!

I understand nearly $12 million was invested on Christabelle's which includes a $100,000 salt water fish tank...Sound like a great opportunity for a garage sale...
