No wonder why the city is going broke

And we want to know why the City is going broke. The Biscayne Times has published a list of Miami's Top Salaries for last year. These figures include overtime, settlements, retroactive pay raises, etc.

The real jaw-dropper is that all these firefighters and police will get a pension equal to 60% of their high 3 year average salaries that will be paid until they die. And that's after 20 years on the job. Not bad to retire at 45 and get paid $150K for the rest of your life. Police and fire are bankrupting cities all over the country.

Wow! It used to be that pay was low, and you were told that you took part of your pay in sunshine. I see that's changed!

80 fireman making over 200k/year- someone has to have the courage to stand up to that union and say enough is enough (but don't expect either mayoral candidiate to be that person)

The only way to stop these abuses is to take away the piggy bank and the only way to do this is to file a lawsuit using the words below.

Where, the US Constitution, in article 1 section 9 line 4 forbids Direct Taxation,
being that a direct tax is a tax named and directed towards the items to be taxed.
Direct taxation of real and personal property by xxxxxx County makes null the concept of private property ownership.
Where the perpetual taxation of real and personal property abolishes the concept of Allodial title granted to the American people.
Where the citizens in the county cannot own any property free and clear because direct taxation of personal and real property is an infinite tax.
Notwithstanding, the 16th Amendment nullification of the apportionment clause in Article 1, as the subsequent court cases have made it clear, the 16th Amendment dealt with only the taxation of income, therefore the prohibition of the direct taxation clause of real and personal property remains intact. The case of Commissioner v. Glenshaw Glass Co., 348 U.S. 426 (1955) showed that only income clearly realized should be taxed not the property. Private property such as a homestead does not generate income until said property is transferred or sold to other owners. The counties taxation of accrued Ad Valorem prior to the exchange of ownership constitutes the taxation of nonexistent income that leads directly to the confiscation of real property owned by the citizens who have no intention of ever selling for profit or loss unless forced by property taxes. The fact that the average tax payer in less than 12 years will pay over 50% of the original purchase price on any given property, proves the point as to why the founding fathers inserted the no direct taxation clause.

The plaintiff seeks the immediate arrest and nullification of all sales of tax certificates in the county and the collection of said property taxes dating back to January 2000.

I've reviewed the full list over the last hour and one that sticks out for me is one of the NET Administrators who makes $160,000; the average income of the area she is meant to be "enhancing" is under $23,000.

As outrageous as the top 100 salaries are, there are a couple more things that I find disturbing:

The average Total Compensation of the 3695 employees is $108,016
The median (3695/2 = employee 1848) makes $98,691.

According to the 2000 US Census, The median income for a household in the city was $23,483, and the median income for a family was $27,225. The per capita income for the city was $15,128. About 23.5% of families and 28.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 38.2% of those under age 18 and 29.3% of those age 65 or over.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2004, Miami had the third highest incidence of family incomes below the federal poverty line in the United States, making it the third poorest city in the USA, behind only Detroit, Michigan (ranked #1) and El Paso, Texas (ranked #2.) Miami is also one of the very few cities where its local government went bankrupt, in 2001.

What message is our local government sending to us?

Actually I heard the other day that Commissioner Sanchez is going to try and work with the fire and police on pension stabilization. If he does this he will most likely lose their vote. I can only hope that our fireman, police and Commissioner Sanchez work together to try and negotiate something that will help us get through these difficult times and ultimately do what is right and just for our entire community.

What exactly does a Sargeant at Arms do for
$295,075.22 a year.

Do you have e mails to these people?

This stems from the story on the biscayne times "gravy train"
Regalado was the only person who did not refuse to speak on the article.
Regalado also vowed today to renegotiate the pension with the unions. I just saw on channel 4 that he recieved full endorsement of ALL the City of Miami Unions. A first in the history of Miami.

Several weeks ago the Herald noted that just one retired fire department retiree was collecting $13,000.00 monthly from our tax dollars. And the City of Miami hired the law firm of SLK - Stephens, Lynn, Llein LaCava & Puya and have paid out over $65,000.00, in legal fees to defend against my suing City of Miami Code Enforcement for finding me guilty of "exchanging emotions" on my property. That's right folks, they actually put it in writing and are now defending against my lawsuit for such stupidity & needless harrassment.

What is exchanging emotions? Is that like PDA?

I think reblogging this with photos and salaries would be good. I wish I worked for the city that's for sure.

Is there a jobs board for the City of Miami. I am corruptible. My mother used to be a dictator in my family. While I'm not currently fat, I could easily be (and could afford it on my new salary).

Also, I'd like a circle on my block. I have a dog, and a dog park across the street would be nice, and I'm as closely related to the founder as NBC as all of our elected officials.

I'm ready, willing and able to work-- oops! That might disqualify me from a City of Miami position. Please ignore this paragraph.

Hey everyone, Regalado spoke with the Biscayne Times about this and he triple pinky promises that he will slash the fire and police pensions which is why they back him, first time in City history! Yeah!

July 16, 2009 5:26 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anonymous 5:26 pm, if this is true that Regalado pinky promises to slash the pensions of fire and police, then why the hell would they side with him? Something isn't kosher here.

July 16, 2009 9:02 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Because they would have to side with Sanchez, its either or.
At his speech he announced that he would renegotiate the pensions while there both the FOP and Fire Union agreed.

I'm definitely not going to go with the candidate that these unions back!!! this is a no brainer

July 17, 2009 7:56 PM

I can't understand why the unions would want to endorse a two-faced candidate. He points at the police chief, yet he had a criminal investigation for city credit card fraud. He talks about being unethical, yet in 1999 had the biggest scandal with a mistress. I heard that the FOP didn't even screen the candidates. I think they jumped the gun too quickly with their endorsement.

Hey anonymous 9:02 p.m. of course it's not kosher. It's an island dish called banana republic. DON'T YOU GET IT!!! REGALADO HAS MANAGED TO BUY ALL THOSE PEOPLE IN THE UNIONS WITH ALL THE MONEY HE'S GETTING FROM HIS PAL NORMAN. OF COURSE WHEN HE HAD HIS STADIUM IN PHILADELPHIA HE DIDN'T MIND THE CITY PAYING FOR IT, BUT SINCE HE DOESN'T GET ANY MONEY FROM IT NOW,HE DOESN'T CARE FOR IT.

The city credit card was deemed as fradulent charges. Such as diesel fuel being sold at places that dont and has never sold diesel. Identical charges being done miles apart from each other etc.

And on the mistress, its his personal life. You can always ask him I suppose. He still wears his weeding ring even though his wife is deceased.

The unions and especially the firemen are greedy. They think the City administration are idiots. Of course, they are right. The taxpayers are abused again.
