A nice shady (free) parking spot

car1
It's nice to be the Parking Authroity or Code Enforcement. When you need a nice parking spot for lunchtime, you just make yourself one -- right on the sidewalk under a nice shady tree. This was the corner of Commodore Plaza and Grand Avenue yesterday.

They like to make everyone else miserable as they enjoy their cushy jobs.

Grape, I can't say I agree with you that being a meter maid is a cushy job, but that is completely unacceptable. Wow!

I would have called the Cops, (I have 2 of the locals on speed-dial), just to see what they would say or do. This is a freaking slap in the face by the "authorities". Also take the plate # and Id, and throw a bunch of e-mails out to our "representatives". Not that Manny, Sarnoff or any of their employees or colleagues would respond, but just for the heck of it.

Hey, they are just trying to escape the heat! Look how Larry Spring, Miami's C.F.O. escapes the heat..he takes himself and 10 others from the City's Finance Department on an all expense paid trip to Seattle. Now that IS a cushy job! Oh by-the-way, you the taxpayers of Coconut Grove picked up that tab!

You have to have a certain personality to be a meter person; like getting up every morning knowing how many people you are going to make miserable each day.

anon at 12;33 - pretty ridiculous comment ! The person has a job, gets paid , feeds her family! If YOU were really concerned you would call Miami parking authority, ask who was on duty in the grove at that time, ask if this is proper procdure for lunch OR parking and writing tickets. Then if the person is wrong - file a complaint.! The nonsense that comes from people reading this blog amazes me. Paranoia, govt conspiracies, etc !!

Chances are this is NOT the Miami Parking Authority since their vehicles generally have the MPA logo.

Yup, that's a code enforcement.

Too bad there isn't a code against this that we could enforce.

Yeah right you could become a lawyer like some of the people on this blog who spend their days blogging - they seemed to have never heard brevity is the soul of wit.

From Shakespeare's Hamlet, 1603:

LORD POLONIUS
This business is well ended.
My liege, and madam, to expostulate
What majesty should be, what duty is,
Why day is day, night night, and time is time,
Were nothing but to waste night, day and time.
Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit,
And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes,
I will be brief: your noble son is mad:
Mad call I it; for, to define true madness,
What is't but to be nothing else but mad?
But let that go.
