Hindsight is 20/20 when it comes to marketing
The Wynwood Artwalk was held last night (it's the second Saturday each month) and of course the Summer Rendezvous on Commodore Plaza was held, too. The Summer Rendezvous needs a few more people. While there's a nice crowd, a few more wouldn't hurt.
A suggestion that could have worked for next week's Rendezvous: Have a few people handing out flyer cards to people leaving the Wynwood Artwalk advertising the Summer Rendezvous on Commodore Plaza next Saturday.
It could be unobtrusive, as people leave, just hand them a card. A plus on the card could be a coupon for something for next week, maybe a restaurant discount, maybe even a Grove Buck could have been handed out, too.
It's a cheap way to market and very effective especially in the summer when people are looking for something to do.

Go you one better. The Grove was full of people last night. They just were not aware of Commodore Closure for pedestrian enjoyment.
One way is to put stickies on the Miami Herald being delivered to homes. I love the idea of cards, handed out by costumed performers in strategic places in Coconut Grove any one of the corners where McFarlane and Grand meet. I suggest Theatrical flair which would not be threatening or offensive. Possible every garage attendant could give them out as well.
WYNWOOD ARTWALK IS ABOUT ART. COMMODORE STREET CLOSING IS NOT ABOUT ART, SO NOT NECESSARILY THE SAME CROWD.
It would be feasable to close Commodore Plaza permanently if the traffic was re-routed.
McDonald St would go straight through to Main Hwy if two property owners (one on Grand Ave and one on Thomas St) are willing to sell their properties to the city in order for the street to continue.
The unknown factor is whether business would improve, as an outdoor pedestrian mall.
tom - there's a first time for everything. So while i agree with the concept of marketing one event at the other, the last thing we need is more promotional materials littering the sidewalks every morning. now, if we could find some mission impossible-styled cards, ones that will self destruct ten seconds after reading, now that would be cool.
Sincerely, The guy with the beagles.
I have been a long time transplant to the Grove, and honetly loved the block party. A friend and I agreed that even if it wasnt "packed" and "over crowded" the feeling was very relaxed on one end (Grand) and more hustle and bustle on the other (Ingram). a pretty fair balance, and it was also only weekend 2 of this event. word spreads, be greatful for good ideas that draw business to us, and not away. :)
