Comm. Sarnoff is buying American and going green
Commissioner Marc Sarnoff was so impressed with the Ford Hybrids at last month's Buy American, Go Green event that he purchased his own.
“Once I got behind the wheel of the Fusion Hybrid at the event, I knew I had to make the switch to Ford. The quality of the Fusion and the absolutely enjoyable experience at the Metro Ford dealership has made me a believer in Ford. With more than 100 patents on the Fusion Hybrid alone, Ford should now stand for Forging Our Research and Development," says Commissioner Sarnoff.
“We are extremely proud that Commissioner Sarnoff made the decision to publicly trade in his Smart Car for one of our new Fusion Hybrids," says Metro Ford Lincoln Mercury General Manager Lombardo Perez Jr. "This is a new era for Ford and we can clearly see that our vehicles match up against the best in the world.”

Good move, Mr. Commissioner. You could go even "greener" by purchasing a Bike and take an adventurous trip from, say, City Hall to the toll plaza. I'd recommend a double-suspension mountain bike, rather than a road bike, and a good helmet. You can try S. Bayshore Dr. or Tiger tail, make sure you have bright lights if it's early on weekdays, oh, and a good insurance policy.
When will these roads - and many others - be fixed in the Grove, they are a veritable mess for bikers, runners, skaters and pedestrians alike. I guess we'll have to wait to see a few more serious accidents, wait a dozen years for "jurisdictions", various "counties' budgets" to agree on repaving, painting these crowded venues, and maybe 2 decades to see a decent bike-path, like our neighbors have in Key Biscayne.
Go green Mr. Sarnoff, get a speed bike and see for yourself! (forget about using it every day to go to work, this can only be an experiment at this point)
Looks like he is trying to repair his image but it's too late.
Thats wonderful, I was under the impression that there was a wait period before anyone can get one as the demand is so high.
Your gonna wait a long time for the roads to get better.
City is not in a good financial position (no matter what Joe and Michelle say otherwise)
I know Metro Ford in Miami had a few. Saw one in silver I like. But the black looks pretty sharp too. By far, this is the best American car on the market right now.
Who cares! lets talk about he is killing the grove, not his new car.
I respect the fact that he is buying an environmentally friendly car and purchasing from a company that did not take bailout money. I was never really a Ford fan, but I give them credit for staying afloat without billions from taxpayers. It's clear their cars have come along way. Thanks for the article.
Yeah for going green! Now bring back the 5am closing!!!!
Having 2 cars in the garage is going green? Or did he sell that big SUV too?

Who ARE you? And what is your interest in constantly going off topic in this blog with lame attempts to mischaracterize things I have said or done? Why, frankly, should you even care? The one thing I know for sure is you don't have the guts to publicly stand behind the things you say.
I haven't said the City's in a good financial position; I have said it's not bankrupt like some people keep throwing around. If Joe thought the City was in a "good financial position" he wouldn't be holding emergency Commission meetings in August to address the budget. We are in an economic crisis, cities and counties all over the country are dealing with seriously reduced revenues, and due to state and federal cutbacks, additional expenses.
That being said, this blog entry is about our Commissioner's pretty new car. It looks nice. But if you really want to "go green" Marc, try walking to City Hall or riding your bike.
No emergency commission meetings have been scheduled by Joe Sanchez for August. Commissioner Sanchez requested that the City Manager schedule two budget workshops for the month of August. No emergency meetings.

Exactly, Michelle. Flashy publicity picture from our "representative" Sarnoff here.. aahhh, politics as usual. Like seing Cement Manny riding a bike (like fish out of the water) for PR purposes.
Bottom line is they are politicians who want to appear to be "GREEN", oh so obviously, but their careers and money interests are always way more important.
Bottom line is. Mr Sarnoff and Mr. Diaz and many other "representatives" hardly ever have walked or biked or ran our decimated Cocoanut Grove Streets. and they have ABSOLUTELY no plans or funds to fix this mess.
Nice PR picture, though, Mr. comissioner. Again, if you ever try a bike around here, Mountain Bikes, double suspension, Helmet, good health insurance and an adventurous disposition will help.
I'm not holding my breath until this is fixed, btw, I just drive my 4 car to Key Biscayne, where you can run and bike safely and in peace, most days.

Marc is a good dude. I mean, you can't expect everybody to like everybody, all the time. Miami politics are a joke but he seems to be a steady person. I wouldn't knock him......Nice car.
Relax lady, I was talking about Michelle Spence-Jones. You know one of the yes votes on the stadium who wanted money for overtown, Also Joe Sanchez who voted yes on the stadium who assured us that there was plenty of money to go around.
Only to see that a 91 million dollar bond has ballonged to over 1 billion dollars.
He's so darn slimey. I just can't even stand to look at him.
This creep threatens and extorts people. He uses his position to attempt to bully others, then thinks he can just throw around some PR to fix it all like this crap.
Sarnoff is hurting the grove, and he has no idea what he's doing in this job, except lining his own pockets.
I can't wait till he's gone.
Anon 9:07, you just gave yourself away with your kind words, my friend.
I apologize to all of you for becoming so overly sensitive. After being flogged by Anonymous over and over, I've started to expect it. Perhaps from now on if you're going to slam Michelle, you should add a last initial so the other Michelle and I know which of us is the target of the latest anonymous jibe.
I am sorry if I didnt give a better apology, I do not know everyone in the Grove
Sorry bout the mix up.
Can someone cite any examples of the Commissioner using extortion, bullying, or threatening?
We need to hear this.
That is quite an accusation.
Well the accusers like to hide in the shadows Tony, under the guise of "Anonymous" and since I am not opening myself to libel. They need to have their real names and email address attached to any specific incidents.
No kickbacks or rebates on the Ford Fusion. Full sticker price or they show you the exit door. I was at the show also, and the Ford Saleswomen just laughed at me when I asked. To bad so sad, I got back into my Mercedes and drove off.
Like he really "bought" it -- it's abundantly clear from his lip service that he got it in exchange for being the pitch man.
His language is straight from a marketing script.
How do we just get him to leave?
So what? It's good PR and on top of that he bought a car from Ford. I am not going to commend him on the great thing he's done. However I am not going to denounce him either.
