Buzz kill

mpa
It's amazing, with all the great stuff going on in the Grove, we still have the anti-fun entitity lurking in the shadows, just waiting to ruin it all. What's it like having a job that brings misery on everyone every day of the week? I mean, not even a day of rest.

Even today, the Parking Authority stalks the boat ramp as crafts are launched. Hopefully someone will forget to feed the meter and make the greed monger's day, while ruining the boaters' day.

Pray for bankruptcy.

The City needs to renegotiate labor contracts, void current pension structures and get rid of entire departments.

Trying to fill budget gaps with parking tickets is another form of rearranging the deck chairs...

Buzz kill, indeed!

Grape, Jobie here. you noted I was some kind of evil force-----yet you echo me at times. Please comment on the possibility that there might be the possibility that a group, "THEY" just might be trying to transform the Grove from what it was to something else. We go from laid back to sophisication, wherefore the price of both commercial and private real estate goes from, say 102 per square foot to 325 per square foot, whatever. The Grove Marine gets a face lift from 1,200 square foot to 22,ooo square foot, the rich and famous come by, over the years, and in fact, the Grove is transformed over a period of say 15 years; what remains will make a better buck for all, yourself included. Therefore, is change inevidiable and is change therefore bad? I'm from the old school, you know this code enforcement came after me, but in this instance they made a mistake, but generally speaking "THEY" are upon us.

But, what about the people who park and blow off the fees? So many times I wait for a space while a car sits in a space with a meter that's been flashing for hours. I must just miss the buzz kill days.

I keep my boat at the Grove Harbor High & Dry, behind the Fresh Market. I pay $600. per month for this service. I also live right across the street from this ramp, so my feelings are charge these people Double. I am sure most of these cars are Not Grove residents. If anything, this parking should be for Grove residents ONLY. When we purchase our pleasure boats, the yearly operating costs are including parking and tickets. For me I selected the easy way, I call ahead and the boat is in the water with ice in the cooler. But I pay alot for this wonderful service, but it is my choice of a life style here living on Biscayne Bay, and living across from the same.

How about everyone paying the meters so that you don't get a ticket!!! it's called following the law!! yes, and that includes Grovites too!!I know you think you are special, but you're like everyone else, so pay your dues, and you won't have to worry.

The Parking Authority is doing things in an Un-American way and their practices are unconstitutional. I see a major class action lawsuit coming because of their agressive and illegal actions.

I think the Grove should do what the Gables does and have free parking on Sundays. It would encourage people to visit shops and restaurants on a traditionally slow day.

Obviously this is a pie in the sky wish because the City of Miami would have to agree to give up a day of revenue. Something that would make them sick facing the upcoming budget.

What no one has mentioned is that these particular meters have been working erratically at best over the past couple of years.

Last month I launched the boat, put in the wife and kids, park the vehicle and lo and behold NONE of the meters work!

I say screw it, it's my day off - i'll roll the dice, and sure enough, 5 hours later there are tickets on EVERY windshield!

It's easy money for this foolish authority and that is why they stalk here in particular.
