Now if only Mayfair and the other non-MPA garages did the same. Love to boycott the MPA forever.

If there was a "like" button like on Facebook I would hit that. :)

How much is the "extra hour fee"? Sure, I'll get there at the right time, but I can't promise I'll get out on time (especially for happy hour). I've had too many experiences of being charged quadruple of what I expected in order to leave a garage. Feels very scammy.

What would get me to park in a garage (without movie validation)? $3 flat rate if you arrive 7 pm-10 pm. It'll boost dinner-time traffic, fill up some empty garages, and reduce traffic from all the people (like me) cruising for open street spots to save a few bucks.

Yup Jimmy, they are trying to scam you by giving you 4 hours worth of parking for 2.00. if you can't have a dinner and a few drinks or see a movie and have dinner in 4 hours, then you better not park there. You don't wanna be scammed. Guess they didn't realize you had planned to move in and not move your car all day.

What about the Happy Hour from 5-7? That's not 4 hours, so you have to park and leave with 120 minutes??

Just want to clarify.

I think it's a great idea!

If you go to happy hour for 2 hrs. that is 1.00 per hour. sure beats their usual $6 to $8 per hour. Lots of ungrateful people here.

i never park at cocowalk because i was charged an outragous amount a couple of years ago for a few hours and havent risked it since. this is great news but can anyone confirm what the normal rate is? i rarely stay for longer than 4 hours but what does it cost to park from 8-11pm on a friday or saturday night??? also... try the pay by phone method. once you set it up, the send to a warning text to remind you to "feed the meter" which you can do from your phone instead of having to walk back to your car.

Wow, didn't expect that kind of reply. A movie, dinner and drinks, and a nice night strolling around can definitely take more than 4 hours... maybe I'm misunderstanding the deal, but if I arrive at 6:30 and I'm charged $2 plus a per hour fee for another 2 hours it easily could exceed the cost of street parking, which is why I made the suggestion for the evening deal.

The other deals sound great, but I still feel the same risk of being overcharged as anon 2:53. Still would like to know the per hour fee.

Jimmy. You are getting up to 4 hours of parkig for $2.00 period. Not $2.00 per hour. If you are going to be over 4 hours, then park on the street. They don't want you to park there and stroll around the Grove. They want to be beneficial if you are going to their movies or their restaurants. Most people are in and out in 4 hours. Again, if you aren't then this is not for you. As for me, I love it and will use it all the time.

Grape - are you sure this the 4 hrs = $2 rate applies to restaurants ? I think not - since you validate at the movies but not at other places. That is why it is a MOVIE RATE..But still good. Unless AMC changes their policy , when I previously parked more than 4 hrs- for a long movie and drinks .. they did not calculate 4 hrs= $ 2 PLUS add hr. I had to pay as if I was paying hourly . At that time I called mgmt and they said this was the policy - It is an either or situation - not combined.Has it really changed ?

I am assuming that 4 hours for the movies will include you using it for other things. I am not sure and I will check with CocoWalk.

Don't forget the "erroneous", I mean deliberately given tickets even to people who've paid! I will sign up for anything that drowns the MPA.

And a poster above suggested pay by phone? I would never ever ever give the MPA a single iota of personal information like a cc# or cell phone number. If I HAVE to use those blue harbingers of corruption, I use plan cash, or just keep driving to the other side of the US1.

Parking Authority = mini mafia. Never call in with your personal ID or credit card info. Don't ever trust them.

Grape, chill out. There's no need to attack you readers for making the valid point that if they take 1 minute past their alloted time, they will be charged an hour, which will cost them more than they saved.

Hey Cocowalk - make your regular rate $1 an hour and I'll think about it. Till then, I think I can deal with the meters. It's no easier or harder to pay and not overstay in a garage as opposed to the street. And the 20 minutes you'll save avoiding that line and traffic mess with the worst designed exit ever onto grand is worth it.

who thought that up?? "hmm, where should we have people try to get in an out, I know, the middle of a 5 way intersection that already boggles the minds of the poor drivers and where there's a pedestrian nightmare of people walking through the streets.

Don't let the 2.00 remark fool you. I went to Happy Hour at Crazy Pianos yesterday, got there at 630p and left at 855p the parking was $7.00 that is why all the places were empty. At Crazy Pianos we were one of three tables with guests and if the parking continues to be sooooo expensive people will not return. I won't if I can go to Village of Merrick or Dadeland for a lot less.
That my friends is why only tourists who don't know any better go to Cocowalk.
