It's time for the Royal Poinciana Fiesta
The annual Royal Poinciana Fiesta sponsored by the Tropical Flowering Tree Society is Sunday, June 7 at 1:30 pm. The Poinciana Trolley Tour will leave the Kampong (4013 Douglas Road).
This is a fun event that consists of a narrated tour (by Larry Schokman, Rob Bobson and Steve Pearson). Enjoy some of the best Poincianas and other flowering trees in the area, followed by a guided walking tour of the Kampong's collections and refreshments, including a special Poinciana Passion punch that is delicious.
The cost of this event is $20, please call Carol Vannoorbeeck to make a reservation at 305-258-1086.
On Monday, June 8, the Fiesta concludes with a celebration in the Garden House of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden (10901 Old Cutler Road, Coral Gables). This event will include trolley tours of the Garden, Jazz music by the great Joe Donato, coronation of this year's Poinciana Queen and Court (with book scholarships), and a wine and cheese reception. The fun starts a 7 pm. It is free and open to all who enjoy the spectacular beauty of this wonderful tree. Park in the South Parking lot.
