Does the Grove need a Bed and Breakfast?

Do we have a Bed and Breakfast in the Grove? I know we have that little place on Commodore Plaza, that most people don't know about, but I don't think we have a B&B.

A lady named Sonia, sent a letter asking Grovites to help her get one going. She needs a very large house with a minimum of five bedrooms and three bathrooms with a pool. It should be a charming older house and even a property with a few cottages would work.

She plans on involving local stores and restaurants as vendors, even local spas and will promote local businesses in creative ways.

She is looking for someone possibly to go into partnership with. Maybe not. She is looking for suggestions and input. If you are interested, her email address is 2Sonia@bellsouth.net or you can call her at: 305-386-2911.

We need not just "a" Bed & Breakfast, but a dozen of them. Some critical mass on that front would allow Coconut Grove to cater to a unique niche in South Florida; further enhancing and developing the "Village" theme.

My folks always used to stay in a B&B that was on Douglas south of Main Highway. When it sold to be used as a single family home, it was much missed.

This coming weekend by son is getting married in Newport RI> We booked a took entire B & B for all the family & friends to stay in. What a Great plan to copy an idea New England business people has been doing for many years.

Two potential problems:
1) Code Enforcement, who would probably take a dim view of any such activities, and
2) Property Tax Appraiser, who might conclude that the home was being used commercially and yank any Homestead Exemptions that might be in effect.

Christabelle's! How awesome would it be to have that place turned into a boutique hotel or something of the sort?! Such a waste for it to sit there empty.

I think Reality Check is right about code enforcement. I doubt that the city will easily permit this kind of activity. But I could be wrong. BTW, the house at 3525 Vista has a homestead exemption and is apparently rented. Could be trouble for the owner if it is rented and is being used for commercial purposes. Can't have a homestead exemption.
