Alfest is the best!

alfest1
We are just hoping that we can do half as well with the Bed Race Pajama Pub Crawl in September as the Alfest Bar Crawl did last night. About 1000 people signed up to drink their way through the Grove! All in the name of charity.

alfest6
Proceeds went to
Camp Boggy Creek near Orlando. A great place for kids with cancer.

alfest3
It all started at the Sandbar Grill and then extended to most of the other bars around the Grove.

alfest2
A few new places that popped up in the Grove this year replaced some bars that dropped out and the participants had plenty of places to party.

alfest5
Their favorites included Sandbar, the home of Alfest, and Cabana One. Of course the participants enjoyed Barracuda, Crazy Pianos, Mr. Moe's and the rest, too.

alfest4
The totals are not all in yet, but if 1000 people signed up at $25.00 a head, you do the math. Not a bad haul for one night of drinking!

Alefest was fun, however some of the places were downright rude.
The biggest winner (or loser) was Crazy Pianos first of all they denied everyone entry from 7-8:15. They were having dinner and didnt want us to go in there. At 9 oclock no one with shorts allowed. So you had a small window, which by the way they would only allow a certain of number of people in at a time. The bartenders were nice but they only allowed us miller lite, same deal at tavern but the bartenders were rude and not happy for us to be there. Everyone else had the warm beer for us. The ONLY exceptions were Moes (they offered beer or rum, Temple and Sandbar (which they were great and awesome) I should have never left sandbar. If this wasnt going to Cancer research people would have probably burned the streets.
Quote of the night, "Welcome to Crazy Pianos, hurry up"

Crazy Piano was given 3 bottle of liquor and 1 keg of beer to help absorb some of the cost. By the time I got in they claimed to be out of it already. Considering they didn't start letting people in till I had arrive I don't see how that was possible. I received about 20 phone calls and many other complaints about them from people who I ran into in other location regarding the way they were treated by the door staff. Not sure why they would agree to be involved then refuse so many people entry. They took all the product that was given to them and used it for their own profit, while spitting in the face of everyone who contributed to this charitable event. The people I spoke to will never go there again. I know I will never go there again and will spread the word on my experience there. A new business should have have jumped at the chance to "impress" 500 new customer. You can be sure that they will never be invited into Alfest again, although based on the feeling of most of the party goers, it won't be around for next years Alfest on June 26th

Grape make sure they are not part of the Coconut treasure hunt! They do not deserve a chance to offend more people.

Im Happy to post my name which is Michael Masella, I was excited to drive down from Volusia County to support my friend Al for a wonderful cause. I started at the Mayfair which was fantastic, Everyone we met was just as great. Everyone involved with Alfest were just as wonderful and very quick to show me where and what I would be doing and where id be going. After going to a few great local bars and feeling like we were welcomed and appreciated we ended up at a pretty cool outdoor party spot. I was excited to continue drinking with my friends who are from Miami and my friend Pete who flew in from CT, we ended up at Crazy Piano and were greeted by the biggest D. Bag in South Florida, after we were told we were not welcome because we had shorts on I of course was not happy with that decision so we asked to speak to a manager, So this wormy Pee-Wee Herman looking hamster guy rolls out and goes "Sorry you have shorts on" Seeing that barley graduating 8th grade gets you a management job at The Untuned Piano made me realize why bars such as Sandbar Last for Decades and tourist traps like the busted Piano Stool stay around for no time, Could it be because there Id Checkers should stick fewer needles in his ASS maybe? Is it because the hamster looking manager called the cops on us because we wanted to know why they were involved in a charity event and than we were not welcomed ? BTW female officer dont know her name was absolutely respectful and shaking her head as well. As well as the security guys working who agreed the door guy at the Pitiful Piano was a SCUMBAG!!!!! BTW there were MANY of us who spent a bunch of money everywhere we went, We werent LOOKING FOR FREE DRINKS PIANO LOVERS WE WERE USING THOSE TICKETS TO SHOW PEOPLE WE SUPPORTED THE CAUSE!!! THOSE TICKETS SHOWED EACH ESTABLISHMENT PEOPLE CARE!!! AND TO TURN US AWAY, SHAME ON YOU!!!! Truth be told even that Loser establishment Could do nothing to bring down a wonderful Event. Al you and all your sponsors should be proud, I know i was, I met some fantastic people and went to some great bars!!! Thanks for your hard work!!

Alfest was a great time. I never made it to CP, because a) I'm not a big fan, b) I was with a large group that included some wearing shorts, and c) I'd heard about what they were doing by the time the 3rd bar we went to. We enjoyed the grove staples - Cuda, Sandbar and Moes, and had a great time at rest, including Cabana One, which while being a much nicer, swankier place than Crazy Pianos, welcomed the Alfest crowd. We even returned there at the end of the crawl for one last drink.
