Many are questioning the Red Light District idea

I'm off to the Bed Race committee meeting. We should be firming up the rules and can finally start accepting applications.

I heard from many of you and you aren't crazy about the Red Light District idea. I'll let them know. Would it work only the night of the Pajama Pub Crawl the night before, as a theme? Or should it be scrapped all together?

Don't listen to these naysayers. It's a good idea and I think is just what the Dr. ordered. We can't let the uptight, teetotaling, whiners kill any harmless fun idea out there. Please mention that many of us support it.

Can't we have fun and class at the same time? If you want red lights, go to Biscayne Blvd. City isn't going to let you play around with their light posts anyway.

It a one night event. What's the big deal? Its a great idea and we should move forward with it. We're becoming worse than Coral Gables. This is sickening.

Definitely not as a theme!

We could have story hour for the children. People that support a red light theme could explain to the children what the theme means in real life. Please include the drug abuse and violence against women part so we can all really appreciate the fun of prostitution and why we would like to use it as a theme in the Grove. (Or, we could do a film of a Grove hooker and twitter everyone throughout the day on what a real-life hooker is up too.)

What's the allure of dressing up the neighborhood like a den of drugs & prostitution anyway? I don't see any positive or lighthearted fun connotation at all.

Poor taste aside,
Not sure how the cops would deal with people obscuring public lighting like that. Has anyone even asked?

I applaud the creativity, and would never want to stifle free thought, but can't get behind this idea. There's just nothing 'good' about a red light district.

6:45am - let's get rid of halloween too, because its a pagan ritual. So please, do not ever let your child dress up or go tricker treating again without describing the human sacrifice and other satanic rituals that are part of the history of that holiday. Either that or maybe you could lighten up and not be hypocritical and hyperbolic at the same time. It's a bad combo.

For the record, this is being suggested for the night before, when your kids should be in bed. If they are not, that's your problem and red lights aren't their biggest problem.

Do you know that the US is the #1 country in the consumption of porn.
That shows what a hipocritical society we are.
Shill out and leave the children at home! Children should not be out at night anyway.
Great Idea!

Are the bed races at night? They were always during the day before.

Thank you 11:23 anon. I can't tell you how frustrated and upset I am by seeing the number of people who are so stupid as to be walking the grove with a child in a stroller at 11, 12 or later on a Friday or Saturday night. Poor parenting.

Sure the grove is a family friendly place, but that's just ridiculous. If you have kids get a sitter or go home by 10. You are endangering the welfare of a child.

Sorry, I'll put this soapbox away now.
