District Commissioner pushes for repeal of sales tax
Our District County Commissioner, Carlos Gimenez, is pushing for a petition drive to get the repeal of the half-penny sales tax that was approved in 2002. The money that was to be used for mass transit services is being squandered away by the County and he feels it is fair to say enough already and end the sham. Story here.

I love it!!!! All you lefty's out there think taxing and more taxing are what we need. But look, all we do is find other more useless ways of wasting those tax dollars. Then you know what happens? We raise taxes even more because we need more money for more crap......Good, I hope all of you get the crap taxed out of you every which way, maybe next time you'll vote the right way.
Here's a thought ... instead of repealing the tax that voters endorsed through a referendum to pay for improvements to public transportation, how about demanding improvements to public transportation? Actually using the money the voters wanted spent for a valid purpose on that purpose! We need transportation improvements badly, and if we do not improve things for the future we will have serious problems.

In an ideal world, that would sound like the way to go, however, how can we trust that the money will be used to actually improve the system with the same folks running things, who have squandered close to $1 billion of surtax money on maintaining the existing system? We need to take it away from them first, and then pass a air tight surtax that will keep their little greedy hands away from that pot of money, once and for all!!!
